Visit Mississippi - Wander in Their Footsteps: Hezekiah Watkins
Meet Hezekiah Watkins, a true hero who fought for civil rights in Mississippi. At just 13 years old, he was arrested and put on death row for simply wanting to see the Freedom Riders. Talk about courage!
Hezekiah's story is one of many that show the incredible history and resilience of the people of Mississippi. From the Medgar and Myrlie Evers home to the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, there are so many places to learn and be inspired.
We were honored to work with Expedia and Visit Mississippi to bring Hezekiah's story to life. It's a reminder that we all have a part to play in making sure the next generation knows this history and keeps fighting for change.
