Freezing rain will happen tonight. An ice storm is expected to sweep across the area overnight, potentially leading to icy roads and hazardous driving conditions. We strongly advise against traveling if possible, as even a small amount of ice on roads can be extremely slippery and dangerous. Additionally, due to the adverse weather conditions, emergency response times may be delayed, further emphasizing the importance of staying off the roads whenever possible.

Drivers are reminded to stay alert while driving in areas known to flood. It doesn’t take much water to sweep a vehicle off the roadway. Do not drive around barriers or barricades - it is extremely dangerous and against the law!

We are confident in additional thunderstorm development this afternoon. What is LESS certain is how far north these thunderstorms develop.

Rounds of rain are expected through tonight. Areas west of the Mississippi River are favored for heavier rainfall amounts. Generally speaking, rainfall totals of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected. Some impacts include rising levels on creeks, streams and rivers, and ponding water on roads and in low spots.
