Memphis City Beautiful

Memphis City Beautiful Memphis City Beautiful has worked since 1930 to keep Memphis clean, green, and beautiful.

The Memphis City Beautiful Commission, formed in 1930, is the oldest beautification commission in the United States. In 1930, our first job was to transform the then dismal and heavily trashed riverfront into a showplace for which Memphians could be proud. Five years later, in 1935, Riverside Drive was opened, and Memphis had a beautiful new "front door."

The City of Memphis is suspending garbage and recycling collection for Thursday, February 20, due to an extreme cold warning issued for the area following the winter storm. While snow and ice conditions are improving, the dangerously low temperatures pose a safety risk to hand collection crews.

The city prioritizes the safety of its workers and will reassess conditions to determine when services can resume. As conditions improve, further updates will be provided.

City of Memphis garbage and recyclables collection is suspended for Wednesday, February 19th. A Winter Storm has impacted the ability of the Memphis Solid Waste Division to deliver services. Snow accumulation threatens the ability of our team to safely collect garbage and recyclables.

Due to the President’s Day holiday, some customers are already experiencing a delay in services. The Solid Waste Division regrets any inconvenience customers may experience and appreciates your understanding. Every effort is being made to restore services as soon as possible. Customers are asked to place their carts on their scheduled collection day and leave it until serviced. For information on your collection schedule and to receive notification of service changes, please download the City of Memphis Curbside Collection app, available from the Apple App and Google Play online stores.
