Exports of Southern Pine lumber (treated and untreated) were running 20 percent ahead of 2023 through the first half of 2024, according to the most recent data from the USDA’s Foreign Agriculture Services’ Global Agricultural Trade System.

Valencia, Spain, was recently home to FIMMA + Maderalia, a biennial collaboration of two concurrent trade shows representing the furniture production and design industries.

The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) pavilion provided members with a space to network directly with European manufacturers.

Organizers of the event said that this year’s overall attendance was estimated to be more than 35,000 and that international visitors have tripled in recent years.

Asia’s only trade expo for sourcing wood materials, Sylva Wood 2024, was recently held in Shanghai, China.

The American Hardwood Council (AHEC) pavilion offered a space for U.S. hardwood producers to network and work toward rebuilding the US-China wood trade.

The three-day expo offered a full program of keynote speakers who delighted with discussions on market movement and ways to be innovative in an increasingly competitive landscape.

The first time The Mantel Shoppe founder Ronald Leopard built fireplace mantels, his “shop” was a spare room in his house and his “customers” were his friends.

Almost 40 years later, The Mantel Shoppe is still creating beautiful fireplace mantels and Ronald’s son and current The Mantel Shoppe owner, Nick Leopard, said that the current shop is 40 times the size of that spare room.
