R.I.P. Mark Terry
Mark Terry, who worked as a winemaker and vineyard manager for 20 years at Hargrave Vineyard in Cutchogue, Long Island, and its successor, Castello di Borghese, has died in Winston-Salem, NC at the age of 61.
News of his death on May 14 was shared on his page by his daughter, Nikki. There were no details, but a separate Facebook post indicated he suffered a heart attack.
Terry was the general manager and winemaker at North Carolina’s oldest winery, Westbend Vineyards in Winston-Salem, from 2004 until its closing in 2014. He and his daughter, Nikki, then went on to establish a wine and beer shop in downtown Winston-Salem called Corks, Caps & Taps.
Terry was a 1978 graduate of Southold Junior-Senior High School.
In addition to his daughter, Nikki, he is survived by daughter Tracy Lynn Martinez, also of Winston-Salem, son Dan Olsen, of Mechanicsville, VA, and his long-time companion, Lillian Kroustalis, who owned Westbend until its sale in 2015.
