It’s been awhile since I posted. I have been busy quilting this whole time, and here is some proof! This is a sweet sampler quilt that Laurie made as a wedding gift. I pray that this marriage is surrounded by just as much love as was ported into this beautiful quilt. It’s great fun to quilt a sampler because I am not locked in to one given pattern. I like the creativity that it allows. Thank you Laurie for the opportunity to quilt this project for you!

I love these baby quilts that are made by Michelle for a couple adorable twin boys! I love the bright colors and the big bold pattern on these quilts. I chose a channel lock method for these quilts, which creates uniform straight lines. I think it looks awesome on these modern quilts, and I know the twins will enjoy them for years to come.

These are two soft snuggly baby quilts that I quilted recently for Christy. I enjoyed quilting these up, the pink one got an all over pattern of flowers, and the blue ones pattern was accentuated with some stripes and a simple stippling. They are ready to be snuggled!!!

This quilt is right up my alley! All my favorite things, civil war era reproduction fabrics, sampler blocks, squares on point, and those striped borders! It was hard to give this one back to Betsy! I loved quilting the feather half wreaths in the setting triangles, and the rope border is a nice detail. I chose a overall grid pattern for the center of the quilt since those intricate sampler blocks deserve all the attention here. In the beautiful striped border I chose to accentuate the striped with a stitch in the ditch technique. I think this quilt looks classic and timeless. What do you think?

It’s been a challenging summer, but I have still been quilting! I was thrilled with the way this jar quilt turned out that Betsy made. I love the unique vintage style of the jars, and the positive vibes just leap off of this quilt. It was fun to try to recreate the look of old fashioned cut glass jars, and add some more sweet little details with thread. The background called for pinstripes, which almost reminds me of beadboard in the back of a cupboard. Which jar is your favorite?

This is a beautiful quilt that Janine made for her grandson’s graduation. Civil war inspired patterns and fabrics are at the top of my list of favorite things. I love the uniformity and intricacy of the civil war era quilting. I think it shows that even in times of hardship or hard work, the human spirit still has a desire to create beauty with their hands. I chose a uniform overall pattern that was inspired by hand quilted designs from the past. I think it really adds to the period feel of this great quilt. Congratulations graduates of 2020!

Here is another beautiful project made by Christy. These bright fabrics are just the ticket for spring! I love the way this sweet quilt turned out. It’s for a new baby, and it’s a little larger than a traditional baby quilt, more of a transition quilt. This new baby may frow with this quilt until old age, and perhaps pass it on to the next generation. I think that’s what I love so much about quilts, they transcend generations, and they are a labor of love. They are useful and so full of heritage. I used a linear design with a little twist, and I think it fits with the whimsy of this lovely quilt. What do you think?

Here is one of the inspiring projects I’ve been working on this last month. Now is a great time to use up all those scraps and stash fabric! This pattern is earmarked in my copy of American Patchwork & Quilting magazine and I’m happy that Christy made it first. Now I will definitely be making one! Christy’s quilt turned out beautifully. I like that the straight line quilting in the light fabrics enhance the chevron pattern. I can just imagine snuggling up under this quilt with a good book, snow falling outside and a fire in the fireplace. I know it’s almost summer, but anything can happen in 2020!

Check this out! I am so in love with this quilt that Carol made. It is a labor of love, an heirloom treasure that will bless her family for many years. I loved having the large negative space in the center to fill with a tight geometric pattern and feathers of course! I love the contrast and texture that were created. A nice stitch in the ditch for the log cabin blocks, with a twist, filled up the rest of the quilt. The border compliments the rest of the design in miniature. The back really shows the detail of the quilting too. Hopefully you can see this quilt in person at the WSQ quilt show this fall! Thank you for the great project Carol! I’m happy to be a part of it!

I had an opportunity to work on an interesting project for Emily. She has a quilt that was made for her by her grandmother out of her childhood dresses. She loved and used the quilt to threads, and instead of folding it up and storing it away she desired to hide it inside a new quilt that she made. I am calling it a treasure quilt, since when this one is loved to threads the one inside will be revealed. How clever! It was a bit challenging to quilt, since some areas were pretty thick, but we accomplished the mission, and Grandma’s quilt is tucked inside! Thank you Emily for entrusting me with this sweet endeavor!

Spring Greetings! I’ve been working on a few projects, but with the stay home order in place it is taking some time to get the quilts to their owners! Jonni passed this quilt on from her daughter-in-law’s friend Erin for me to quilt. It was a first project quilt of her mother’s that had been stashed away for some time. Now it’s complete and ready to be loved! Quilts are timeless. I love the peach and green colors, they remind me of growing up in the 80’s. Just a simple stipple in the blocks and a nice cable design (one of my favorites) in the sashing has this quilt on its way back to Erin! Thanks for the nostalgia it was fun!

Here is a beautiful and intricate quilt made by Christy. I think this quilt is so stunning, and I loved working on it. It reminds me of a snowflake that has caught the sun’s rays and is sparking like a diamond. I used a basket weave design in the border, and some straight line ruler work in the center star. I am honored to have worked on this beautiful piece. Thanks Christy!

What’s black and white and red all over? This crazy quilt! This quilt was made by Thao’s daughter in her 8th grade home economics class back in the day. Do they even teach sewing in school anymore?!? Thao had it quilted as a fun gift for her. I mimicked the crazy angles in an all over design for this quilt and trimmed and folded over the backing to make a quick and easy binding. I like how it turned out and it saved a whole lot of time! What a fun gift!

Here’s a breath of spring quilting to go with the sunshine we’ve been having lately! Trudy made this soft and lively quilt, a tried and true simple pattern that makes a beautiful statement. Trudy makes her backing with coordinating fabric to use up leftover project fabric and add even more interest to her quilt. I love it and I plan on using this idea in the future! I chose a big paisley all over design for the color gradient portions of the quilt, and a smaller diamond grid in the white. I like to mix the scale of the quilt designs to add texture and movement. Bring on spring! 🌷

This Christmas season has been great for quilting! I love this bright and cheerful quilt made by Tina Gordon. All the letters are appliqué. So much work and it was well worth it! Snowy swirls added the perfect compliment to this quilt, and the wool batting really makes nice definition. Merry Christmas!

I have always admired this beautiful quilt pattern. Although I wish this was mine, I had to return it to Tina Gordon who made it. The ombré fabrics gives so much depth to this piece. Little crystals will be added and make it truly sparkle! Thank you Tina for allowing me to quilt this project. It was pure joy.
