You may know me as a PT/Online Coach but do you know me as...

The huge DragonballZ nerd (probably biggest in your feed), enormous racing sim enthusiast (I have a $2K racing rig setup for Gran Turismo 7 in our basement and I use it ooooffftennnn), a football fan for the New York Giants, Poker player, Motorcycle lover and an overall silly dude that makes lame jokes at often inopportune times? (yeah, I'm that guy) lol.

See? Its unwise to make assumptions just bc of my bicep size! :) I am of course a fitness fan, health advocate but with that mental health is super important.

Refilling my cup doesn't mean more of the work I love but rest and relaxation in other ways.

Those ways are:

🍔 Hanging with friends. I'm described as an Intro-Extrovert so there are times where I'd rather be alone but more often than not I prefer hanging with friends and goofing around. Good company is good for the soul

🧑🏻‍🎨 Getting artistic with drawing. I always tell people "I picked up the weights in 2009 but I picked up the pen in 1997" Ask me to draw you a photo sometime. I'll even draw you! I still got the skillz

🎸 Reading. I prefer self development and some may see that as a chore but I've been on the path of self improvement since 2012 and I make a habit of reading 10 pages of a good book a day. If the day got away from me, I'll throw an audiobook on for 10 minutes in the evening to make sure I got it in

December is a month notorious for making people 'falling off track',

Whether it be Christmas day, Work do's, or Festive Celebrations...

People are quick to make excuses as to why they've been led astray 🫣

But the truth is...

There are 28 whole days left 2023 🤯

4 FULL WEEKS!

Meaning, even if you had an entire week of non-stop celebrations

You still have 21 days to make sure you hit your goals 🙌

And even when you are non-stop celebrating you can still be productive.

Here are my 5 top tips for hitting your targets this December:

🎄 Don't restrict yourself too much - you'll only binge later!

🎄 Plan ahead - organize your workouts and meal prep so there's no nasty surprises later

🎄 Get your steps in - this simple action TRULY makes a difference

🎄 Eat until you're full, not stuffed! - Enjoy your food, eating until you're uncomfortable is NOT enjoyable

🎄 Set realistic expectations - Progress is progress, taking baby steps is better than trying to take on the world and being disheartened if it doesn't work out

What even are “Compounds”?

A term bandied about in the gym, but what does it really mean?

Compound movements just mean exercises that use multiple muscles in one action.

Alternatively it could be two exercises combined into one compound.

Such as a curl (which isn’t a compound) into a shoulder press - now the curl is part of a compound movement.

Another great example is the squat, basically sitting down and back up again, which uses tons of leg muscles!

Squatting uses your quads, hamstrings, glutes and core (front and back of your legs and butt, of course 😉) and because it uses so many muscles we call it a compound.
If an exercise uses exclusively one muscle then we call it an isolation exercise!

Most exercises you come across will be some sort of compound exercise - however it’s not always straightforward.

The term is often used for more complex barbell exercises, these are often deadlifts, bench press, squats (of all kinds), overhead press, bent over rows, etc.

These are often highly regarded exercises as they make training much more efficient as many muscles are activated all at once for more progress in less time!

The bottom line: you now know what a compound is and it’s really rather simple.

Final top tip for making it to the end! If you’re wanting to know how to structure your workouts - starting with compound exercises is often the best way forward.

You need more energy for compounds as they generally use more muscles, so you don’t want to leave them to later in your workout when you’re more tired.

At the end of the day, it comes down to who is willing to do the little things that most people overlook!

That's why I've taken these things and made them habits! 💪 AND YOU CAN TOO!

Here are 3 of my most important habits:

✅ Turning up

I don’t mean turning up my music and cranking the tunes to get me going 😂 I mean turning up to my goals every single day. No change is made overnight, it’s little and often. Consistently turning up means banking little more often.

✅ Allowing myself to relax

Relaxation is obviously an important part of recovery and making time to heal and look after my physical and mental state. Also, forgiving myself when things don’t go according to plan, accept it and move on! (that last sentence is HUGE)

✅ Wake up and drink water (Stay hydrated)

This is a life saver (and prolonger). If you’ve just been asleep for the last 7-8hrs you WILL be dehydrated. Ever wonder why it’s difficult waking up in the morning? Why you have no energy?

Ngl, the reason is pretty simple.

I've been training clients since 2016 and sharing their success never gets old! That's 7 years of my clients winning! When we are willing to follow the play, utilizing a personal trainer is the shortcut! My passion for lifting extends beyond just my workouts. I truly love to see our 2 week bi-weekly checkins and the numbers going in the direction we want them to!

The devil is in the details!

Reaching your fitness goals can really be as simple as making minute changes to your daily routine!

These are some of the simple fitness hacks/ habits that I implement in my everyday routine to keep making progress (without even having to think about it) 🤯

1. Keeping my diet simple. For me, the more steps any plan takes, the less I'm incline to follow through. So I have a protein, a carb and veggies. That simple formula has worked well for me for almost 15 years
2. Making sure I get 8 hours of sleep (Any less and I get grumpy. Not to mention out of energy)
3. Using my workout playlist to zone out on the potential difficulty of the lifts.
