The Isha Institute of Inner Sciences is expanding its location to accommodate its growing population and the influx of visitors from the foundation’s international branches.

Isha currently plans to build 10,000 residential units to host an additional 25,000 people, and has plans to continue expanding facilities in the hope of attracting tourists.

Eastside Elementary School was announced as one of five finalists for the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching’s (NIET) Founders Award Tuesday.

Due to its placement as a finalist, Eastside will receive $10,000 from NIET recognizing its accomplishments and dedication to education. The winner of the Founders Award also receives a cash prize of $50,000 at NIET’s annual national conference.

There was a double dose of big scoring numbers coming out of Van Buren County in the last week. Junior Cara Mills became the latest Eaglette to reach 1,000 points and sophomore Abigail Netherton set a new career-high mark with 40 points in a win Monday.
