A Stranger’s Kindness: A Moment I’ll Never Forget 💐💖
I want to share something truly heartwarming that happened to me at the Kroger on Ridge Rd—a moment of kindness that touched my soul in ways I can't even explain.

As I was going about my errands, a young gentleman, most likely a teenager, walked up behind me, gently handed me a bouquet of flowers, and simply said, "Ma'am, these are for you."

I was in such shock that all I could say was, "Oh wow, oh wow, God bless you." Before I could even process what had just happened, he had already walked away. I didn’t get his name, nor did I get the chance to hug him like he truly deserved.

But what he didn’t know—what he couldn’t have known—was how much I needed that act of kindness in that moment.

You see, I’m currently caring for my sister with Alzheimer's, who is on Hospice. Just a couple of months ago, I lost another beloved sister. Life has felt incredibly heavy lately, and at that moment, I was working Instacart to make ends meet, lost in my thoughts and emotions.

This young man was God-sent. His selfless gesture was a ray of light during one of my darkest days, and I will never forget it. To his parents—if you’re reading this, you have raised a truly incredible son. His compassion, his kindness, and his ability to brighten a stranger’s day is something this world desperately needs more of.

To the young gentleman who gave me those flowers—if you ever see this, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You reminded me that there is still so much good in the world. Never lose that beautiful spirit of yours! 🙏💖

Newborn Safely Surrendered at Garland Fire Station Under Texas Safe Haven Law

GARLAND, Texas – A couple voluntarily surrendered their newborn at the North Garland Fire Station on Thursday evening, ensuring the baby’s safety under the Texas Safe Haven Law.

What We Know:
The couple arrived at the fire station around 5:45 p.m. and handed over their infant.
Paramedics transported both the baby and the mother to a hospital, where the newborn was confirmed to be in perfect health, and the mother was reported to be stable.
Since the surrender met all the requirements of the Texas Safe Haven Law, the parents will not face any criminal charges.
Understanding the Texas Safe Haven Law:
Established in 1999, the Texas Safe Haven Law (also known as the Baby Moses Law) allows parents to legally and anonymously surrender a newborn, provided the child is 60 days old or younger, unharmed, and safe.

Safe Haven locations include:
✔ Fire stations
✔ Hospitals
✔ EMS stations

Parents are not required to provide an explanation for surrendering their child. According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), the process is confidential, stating:

“No questions asked. No police. No prosecution.”

Once medically cleared, DFPS takes custody of the baby and ensures the child’s care and placement.

SOUTHLAKE, Texas – A 28-year-old Aubrey man, Mitchell Joseph Allan, has been arrested on allegations of having inappropriate contact with a child while working as a basketball coach.

According to Southlake police, warrants for Allan were issued last week, and he was taken into custody last Saturday by the Elm Ridge Police Department. Authorities began investigating after receiving reports of abuse that allegedly occurred during Allan’s time as a coach for a private basketball program in Southlake.

Allan was booked into the Denton County Jail and is facing two charges of indecency with a child.

What remains unclear:
Authorities have not disclosed whether the charges involve a single victim or multiple victims.
The specific private basketball program Allan was affiliated with and the duration of his employment remain unknown.

Community ISD Investigates Missing Funds from School Organizations

COLLIN COUNTY – Community Independent School District (Community ISD) has reported that funds allegedly went missing from two organizations affiliated with the district. The affected organizations are the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) at Edge Middle School and the Booster Club for Community Brave Athletics.

In a letter sent out by Community ISD, the district stated, "We would like to share about a discrepancy that was discovered in the accounts of two of the district's affiliated organizations, the Parent-Teacher Organization at Edge Middle School and the Booster Club for Community Brave Athletics."

The letter further disclosed that "an initial investigation into both accounts identified one person who had allegedly misused funds for personal benefit." The individual involved is no longer associated with either organization, and criminal charges have been filed.

Details of the Allegation
According to a Community ISD police report, Keri Michele Stegman has been accused of theft of property valued between $30,000 and $150,000. The alleged theft occurred between June 2023 and January 2025. Stegman was listed online as the president of the Edge PTO for the 2023-2024 school year.

Parents expressed anger and frustration over the incident. One parent shared, "My first reaction was anger. I have a child who plays sports and has been part of athletics their entire life. For someone to feel the entitlement and think it was okay to do this is infuriating!"

Impact on Students and Organizations
The district stated that it has initiated an audit of the affected organizations and is taking steps to recover the missing funds. Parents voiced concerns about the impact on students, with one parent noting, "At the end of the day, the only people that suffered here were the kids. They don’t get the equipment they need. They don’t get those T-shirts when they make it to playoffs because the money isn't in the budget. Now we know why!"

Parents are demanding full accountability and transparency from the district. Another parent questioned, "I have questions as to who she was reporting to because there's no way that we didn’t notice that amount of money was missing."

The district reassured parents that they are doing everything possible to ensure a resolution and prevent similar issues in the future.

The training will be held at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center, located at 5501 Business Highway 69 S, Greenville, TX, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
