This next clip is one of the closing songs we did togetherā"Put It on Me" by Ja Rule, Lil' Mo, and Vita. Funny story: this was the first song I ever held hands and skated with someone to when I was a kid! š It was such a vibe, and Iām truly grateful for the night and all the people who came out to support these youth. Special shoutout to the parents, families, and community members who showed they care. š
Also, a big shoutout to DJ Eddie, making his debut! I worked with Eddie over the summer, teaching him how to DJ, and he absolutely nailed it. As soon as this song ended, he had the next track ready to go. Thatās what I love to see! ššæ Shoutout to Big Eddie!
Itās moments like these that remind me how much I love bringing people together through music and creativity.

š¤ 70s-Themed Open Mic Night ā BTBSN Junior Highlight š¤
This reel captures the magic of our 70s-themed open mic night with BTBSN Junior! From creating invitations to designing flyers, the youth did it all. In this clip, weāre singing "Is It Still Good to You" by SWV, and the vibes were unmatched! š¤ It was heartwarming to see community leaders like David Flick, his wife, and Taris Vrcek come out and support. š
Alongside @Ishara Henry, weāve built a space where 12-16 youth come daily to learn and grow. Thanks to our partnerships with MRCDC and @newsunrisingpgh, weāve been able to give these youth opportunities to plan events, DJ, create media, and manage operations like pros. Many have graduated to leading BTBSN Juniorās planning committee, and their growth has been inspiring! š

Throwing it back to when Visuals by Ishara and I teamed up for one of our first commercials at The BlackteaBrownsuga Network ! We shot this for local artist Leaky Faucet as he dropped his debut album #BattleScars. This project really showed us what we can do together and set the stage for future collabs. š¹ From the September 19 Open Mic and Karaoke Night Hosted by Aaleah š¤
This moment means so much to me. On that night, I was practicing singing and playing the keys, something Iāve been teaching myself to help deal with everything going on in my life. But when my anxiety hit, I started to pull back. Then the magic happened. The people around me didnāt leaveāthey stayed, sang with me, and together, we created something beautiful. We all felt it. Thatās the power of community and music. š
Now, weāre facing another challenge, but itās also an opportunity for us to come together. Our electricity is off while we wait for finances to clear, and with the storm affecting call and processing centersāand Monday being a holidayāthe banks wonāt reopen until Tuesday. We need to raise $500 today to keep this creative space open and continue our work with BTBSN and BTBSN Jr., researching cognitive poverty through music and media.
Iām asking for your support. If this moment touched you, please consider donating or sponsoring this video for $100. Every bit helps us stay on this path and keep sharing moments like this.

Guess the Songs! Extension Footage from Our Open Mic NightāMore Videos Coming Soon!
This next clip is an extension of footage from our September 19th Karaoke and Open Mic Night, featuring me, Eszquire, warming up on the keys with three popular dance songs from the 90s and 2000s. Can you guess which ones they are? Talking on the microphone or in front of people is still new to me, and itās something Iām working to get more comfortable with. This space gives me the chance to practice both playing and speaking, helping me build confidence in front of an audience.
The Blackteabrownsuga Network (BTBSN) uses music, media, and creativity to support personal growth and mental health. Your support is crucial to keeping our space open and thriving. Iām dropping another video from our September 19th Adult Karaoke and Open Mic Night, featuring our youth, Michael. He recently graduated high school and has been using this space to learn, grow, and find his voice. In this clip, Michael is singing āThe Worstā by JhenĆ© Aikoāa song thatās all about finding your strength. What I love most is how he took a second opportunity to practice and give it another tryāand how we all came together to support him. Itās these moments of encouragement and community that make this space so special.
We also had a special guest that night: DJ Came, who often walked by our space but never knew what we did inside. That night, he decided to stop in and ended up staying for the rest of the evening. Itās moments like these that remind me how valuable this space is for connection and growth.
Iām so grateful for what this space has offered, and I look forward to everything weāll continue to do, whether here or in our new location that weāre building. Music and media have been a huge part of how we support mental health journeys here, providing a space where everyone can express themselves and grow.
If youād like to support us in keeping this space going, you can donate through our GoFundMe or directly via Cash App: $BTBSN. Your support helps us continue offering these opportunities to youth and community members.

Check out this highlight from our September 19th Adult Karaoke and Open Mic Night, hosted by Aaleah Oliver! This time, weāre featuring Andrea, one of Pittsburghās talented artists, as she practices her vocals and guitar. Itās been so inspiring to have deeper conversations with her, learning about her accomplishments and the exciting goals she has for the future. Iām looking forward to seeing where her journey takes herāmake sure to follow her story!
Unfortunately, weāre facing the risk of losing this space due to unexpected funding challenges. Recent hurricanes have only added to the difficulties, impacting processing centers and leaving many communities without power. Iām sharing some of these special moments because when we arenāt working in the community and dealing with mental health crises, weāre using this space to connect more deeply with each otherāand with ourselves. This space has become a beautiful place for connection and bonding. Hereās a highlight from our September 19th Adult Karaoke and Open Mic Night, hosted by Aaleah Oliver. Itās a space where we practice being who we want to be every day while supporting one another through our mental health struggles and journeys.
Right now, weāre in jeopardy of losing this space due to funding challenges beyond our control. The recent hurricanes have made things even harder, as many processing centers are impacted, and communities are dealing with power outages and their own crises. Weāre all in this together, and we need your support to keep this programming alive in McKees Rocks and Pittsburgh.
