🛑 STOP!! Are you doing QR Codes wrong?

Think of QR Codes as optical hylerlinks. For example, because you obviously can't put a clickable button on a paper brochure, adding a QR Code to the brochure allows a reader to scan the code with their phone and navigate to a website link (hyperlink) or trigger various other items.

QR CODE USAGE TIPS:

1. 🚫 DO NOT include a QR Code on your digital media. If you plan to publish the piece digitally (Facebook, website, etc), there is no need to include a QR Code. 9 times out of 10, your viewers will be seeing the QR Code on their phone screen. This means that they cannot scan the code to reach your link.

2. 🤳🏻 QR Codes are only meant to be used on media that offer the opportunity for the user to point their phone at it and go to the link (e.g., television ads, printed signs, printed brochures).

3. 🤔 Think before you create the code. Can you redirect the link without re-generating the QR Code? Be sure that you use URL's that can be redirected if needed. Something like https://www.cleverfox.online/qrcode1 and then redirect that URL to a desired destination.

4. 🦊 Can you track the code scans (clicks)? If you want to measure the ROI of a marketing piece, you will want to be able to track exactly how many times your QR Code has been scanned.

5. 🧪 Test your QR Code. Before you print it or include it in a television commercial, be sure to test your QR Code to ensure that it points where you expect it to go.

🤓 FUN FACT: "QR" stands for "Quick Reponse." This optical coding method was created in 1994 by Masahiro Hara to help his team track automobile parts during the assembly process.
