Today is the birthday of the great Rolland Smith. Newsman extraordinaire, author and one of the most spiritually peaceful men I ever met. As a kid growing up in Queens I marveled at his style and delivery never knowing that years later I would have the honor of anchoring by his side at UPN 9 News in New York City. It was a dream come true. Happy birthday, Rolland!

Twenty-three years ago today. Some shots of me reporting in the days following the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center towers. People forget that five local TV technicians also died on that day. Trapped on the roof of the north tower while they were maintaining the giant antenna. Many more in the months and years that followed from all sorts of 9/11 related cancers. Great colleagues and friends. God rest their souls.

Someone just sent this to me. This is what happened when Imus found out that WNBC radio was going to be sold. I don't know how but somehow my name got into it. I remember it so I probably was sitting in the news booth ready to do a newscast. I'm in the middle of Imus' rant at 2:03.
