Colin Hurst Appointed as New Fire Chief of Alcoa Fire Department

The City of Alcoa is proud to announce the appointment of Colin Hurst as the new Fire Chief of the Alcoa Fire Department, effective January 1, 2025.

Chief Hurst began his career with the Alcoa Fire Department on May 10, 2005, and has since dedicated nearly two decades to serving the community. Over the years, he has held several key positions, including his most recent role as Deputy Fire Chief, a position he has excelled in for the past four years.

Throughout his tenure, Chief Hurst has been recognized for his exceptional leadership, operational expertise, and unwavering commitment to mentoring and developing the next generation of fire service professionals. His knowledge and experience, combined with his dedication to excellence, ensures the department will continue its legacy of outstanding service to the community.

Chief Hurst holds an Associate of Applied Science degree from Columbia Southern University and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration. His accomplishments include earning prestigious professional certifications and receiving notable honors such as the Chief’s Award and the Life Saving Award.

Newly promoted Fire Chief Colin Hurst says, "I am beyond excited to step into the role of Fire Chief for the Alcoa Fire Department and to work alongside the incredible team of dedicated firefighters and staff who make up this department. This is an incredible honor, and I am fully committed to ensuring we continue to provide the highest level of service and protection for our community.
