Congratulations Kristin!

Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce names Kristen Perry as Executive Director!

The Yuba-Sutter Chamber Board of Directors is excited to announce that Kristen Perry has been appointed as Executive Director, effective March 1, 2023. Most recently Mrs. Perry was Membership and Marketing Coordinator for the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce.

Mrs. Perry has over 10 years of experience being a catalyst for growth, along with developing and implementing membership services. Her career in Non-profit organizations began with Lake County Farm Bureau in 2008. Since then, she’s had an extensive background with a focus in advertisement and business development. Her most recent role as Membership and Marketing Coordinator for the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce has played an integral part in her career development.

The Board believes that Mrs. Perry will uphold the mission of the Chamber, “Building Relationships. Building Businesses. Building Community.” Along with focusing on our vision of being the premier business resource for Yuba-Sutter. Mrs. Perry’s creative approaches will lead our Chamber into its next chapter of success and be a convener for the economic vitality of our business community.

“Kristen has shown great leadership in her current roll with the Chamber and has helped our businesses and ambassadors rise above any challenge. Kristen is and will be an excellent Executive Director,” said Carolynn Kearby, Board Chair.

It’s been a pleasure to present—with few interruptions—a lot of Pop Hits all day, Rock hits all night, and an extended hits catalog including Oldies each weekend, along with Dan Slentz and Reel Tunez on Sundays… and just recently, Matias’ Bombal’s Hollywood… theatrical movie and streaming entertainment reviews. And… Aria Fresca with the most frequent local weather conditions, temps and forecasts of any Yuba-Sutter station.

So what’s happened? As a non-commercial station born in the era of Covid made it tough to develop underwriting, individual support, and perhaps more importantly, the local programming we had in mind.

This past week, our major underwriter has pulled funding, and our board of directors hasn’t authorized fundraising efforts to replace the income… so, it looks like we’ll be going off the air… likely today or this weekend.

We're hearing more progress is being made with the re-energizations up in Camptonville.

FREED is assisting seniors and folks with disabilities. To be eligible, you must have a disability or chronic health condition, require health sustaining electrical devises, be age 65+ and at additional risk of health concern due to the power outage.

It’s Giving Tuesday, today around the country. People are making sure that non-profits (like 94 Three! KXYS) are being supported in their community-building activities.

For 94 Three! KXYS that includes radio broadcasts of local sports, academic, choir and music groups, local musicians and people making a difference. And Events around Yuba-Sutter.

We're broadcasting 83rd local "Messiah" live December 5 at 4 PM, presented by ET Quality RV, and performed by the Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society Chorus and Yuba-Sutter Symphony.

Other December programs could be basketball this winter, upcoming Christmas Concerts—and small group radio-only broadcasts hosted and prepped by local students. Or maybe by you.

We have recordings from YCHS groups in the 1960s and 70s we're about to digitize... and may be able to turn them into weekend radio broadcasts.

You can help grow 94 Three! KXYS in December, and all of 2022 by becoming a monthly supporter. $10 a month or $130 now will help us pay our bills.

With 300 people doing that, we’d be able to begin to add these locally originated programs from locations around the area, hold regular classes on-line now and in person later to train folks how to use radio and media for community benefit… and to have fun!

And keep our 24/7 FRESH LOCAL WEATHER AND TEMPS near the top and bottom of each half hour! They're updated just before you hear them.

7AM UPDATE: The FM signal is clear in Marysville and Yuba City.
However... If you somwwhere hear Spanish music and talk on 94.3 FM in Yuba-Sutter instead of us, here’s what happened last night... and what you can do to hear 94 Three! KXYS.

Nov. 20, 2021: Since around 10:15 PM, Saturday, our FM signal in parts of town has been getting clobbered by interference from co-channel KGRB, Jackson which is also on 94.3. The atmosphere is creating a better signal path to here for KGRB.

Its something we hope a new transmitter site within the coming year with higher antenna position and overall height will help.

11:59 PM, Nov. 9, 2021: A year ago at 10:15 PM, 94.3 FM again sprang to life in Yuba-Sutter, as non-profit Yuba-Sutter Community Media, Inc. put the non-commercial station back on the air after a year off.

Programming and our identity has evolved since then. 94 Three! KXYS will continue to do so.

More locally produced programs are ahead, including the live, stereo broadcast of the Yuba Sutter Oratorio Society's Messiah Sing-Along-At-Home broadcast at 4 PM, Sunday, December 5, (with no audience) from St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
