San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan, the Metropolitan Transit System and other agencies have launched a public campaign warning people against “wildcatters” calling them “unregulated and unpermitted ride-sharing services.”

“We have received of exploitation for human trafficking where vulnerable women are in these cars,” said Stephan.

Congestion pricing is in effect. Vehicles entering the Manhattan zone, which are local streets and avenues at or below 60 Street – near Central Park – will be charged a toll.

The landmark initiative, which began on Sunday, is designed to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and raise funds for much-needed public transit upgrades.

The storm is shaping up to be the first widespread cross-country winter storm of the season for the central and eastern United States and will negatively affect travel during the final days of the holiday break.

A large cross-country winter storm will spread snow and ice for nearly 1,500 miles beginning this weekend over the Plains and finishing along the Atlantic coast next week. Major travel disruptions are anticipated.
