We are so excited about tonight's interest meeting for the first performance held by the Appalachian Echoes' Community Theatre at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia!

We will still be having it tonight! However, due to the precarious nature of the weather and roads, please don't endanger yourself to attend if where you live is unsafe. We will have two more interest meetings due to current hazardous conditions.

We will be having a meeting on Zoom on Thursday at 6 PM. If you'd like the link for that, please message Appalachian Echoes.
We will be sending out a survey for the best time to have another physical meeting, too.

If you can't make any of these options, please reach out to Appalachian Echoes and we can work together to see that you are able to be involved.

Feel free to message Appalachian Echoes with any further questions!

Stay warm!

We want to make sure the events we bring to you are the best that we can give - that's why we have decided to reschedule our Mental Health in Pop Culture lecture event after overwhelming interest. You requested a more accessible time and we heard you! With our community in mind, we have decided to move the event to January so those of you that were stopped by a schedule conflict can attend then instead!

The specific date will be announced here after coordination with vendors and presenters!

Calling all poets! Make sure to get your submissions in!

Smyth County residents who have written a poem that they’d like to share with the community, now have an opportunity.
For National Poetry Month, the News & Messenger and Lea Hamilton are partnering to spotlight the work of local poets.
All poets residing in Smyth County and Saltville residents who live in Washington County are invited to submit a poem.
To be considered for publication, submit one poem on any family-friendly topic. To allow as many poets as possible to be featured, the maximum length is 100 words per poem, and poems of three lines or less are encouraged.
Poems should be submitted online through https://www.brightdawnmedia.com/poetry-in-the-paper-2024. Copy and paste the poem in the submission form, or link to a Google doc or website of the poem, or upload a file.
The submission deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 14. Selected poems will be featured in the Smyth County News & Messenger.
Individuals will be notified by April 17 if their poem will be published. Poems not published in this year’s Poetry in the Paper will be considered for other upcoming publications.
