• Functionality: Designed for practicality, lower maintenance and better suited to intense activity, like herding or agility work. It offers protection without being overly heavy or cumbersome.
• Appearance: Less feathering on the legs, chest, and britches compared to a show coat. The coat appears more “natural” and may not be as full or flowing.
• Grooming: Requires less intensive grooming to maintain functionality.

2. Show Coat
• Texture and Length: Generally longer, fuller, and more luxurious than a working coat, with prominent feathering on the legs, chest, and britches. The texture is medium, with a polished appearance.
• Functionality: While still functional as a double coat, a show coat emphasizes aesthetics and aligns with breed standards for conformation events.
