Hello Facebook Friends! I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend and were able to spend time with loved ones.

Counterfeit. Dishonest. Poser. Disingenuous. Fraudulent. Fake.

None of those words give us the warm fuzzies inside, and none of those are words any of us would want tied to our reputations. In today’s blog reflection, Brad Brown tackles what it means to be an imitator of God, and offers some cautionary insights about the risk of imposter faith.

As Christians we are called to be "imitators of God" But what does that look like? A reflection on how to be "imitators of God."

Hello Friends!

Happy Memorial Day! Memorial Day has a rich history in our nations story. First celebrated as Decoration Day on May 5, 1868 as a way to decorate the graves of soldiers, it is now one of the most sacred holidays we celebrate each year. Officially becoming a national holiday in 1971, it is a day that we all should take a long pause, and remember the men and women who have so selflessly served this country to protect our freedoms, and especially remember those individuals who have paid for our freedoms with their lives. It’s easy to sit back and think today is about cookouts, pool swims and ice cream. Today though, and even this week, I hope you will each take a moment and look around at all the freedoms we enjoy. When you do this, remember those lives that were sacrificed so that you and I can enjoy our plate full of food with family and loved ones.

I think today’s verse is a fitting verse for the importance of what today means. When Jesus spoke these words, he was speaking of sacrificial love. I cant think of a greater example of sacrificial love than a soldier laying down their life for their fellow soldiers and for you and me. It isn’t lost on me today, that for much of the history of our military, the men and women who have served have been predominately a volunteer force. When one enters any branch of the military, they take an oath to protect and defend this country, our constitution and its citizens. These men and women leave behind the comforts of home and put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms! Former Senator Fred Thompson said it beautifully when he said, “This wouldn’t be the land of the free if it were not the home of the brave.”

So, to all the men and women who have given their lives for us, just as Christ died for us, we at Wisdom In A Whisper say “Thank You” today and every day for ensuring our freedoms are something we can enjoy. God Bless our Military, and God Bless our Country.

Happy Friday Facebook Fam! Below is the newest reflection from The Mount Blog. In today's reflection, Doug MacColl brings us alongside his time with The Spirit earlier this week as he wrestled with what God honoring praise and worship looks like. Doug challenges us to evaluate our own posture as we worship God and how scripture, not emotions, should always be foundational to any worship experience.

Humans are emotional beings. What happens if our emotions shape the lens through which we see and interpret the word? Our relationship with our Abba? In this reflection, Doug encourages believers to allow sound biblical theology to shape their view of the world around them.

Hello Friends! God is so amazing! We are so humbled and in awe of God’s blessing on this ministry over the past 10+ months! Barely a year ago God started stirring hearts and connecting individuals who were committed to making an impact for God’s Kingdom. In just the past few months we have brought on several key staff and mentors, we have begun mentoring young men through Murphy Harpst, we have a virtual Men’s Bible study that is thriving, and we secured our 501c3 status! God certainly gets all the glory for making this happen! If you have been following us on social media, and have felt the nudge of the Holy Spirit to support us, we would love to invite you to consider becoming a Wisdom Ambassador. It is through the financial support of our Wisdom Ambassadors that we will continue to be able to grow this ministry throughout the Southeast, and come alongside men and women, in any season of life! You can support us through the link below, or you can send us a private message if you would like more information about our mission and how you can help. Thank you and God Bless!

Happy Monday Friends! In today’s reflection from The Mount Blog, Brad Brown rolls up his sleeves and provides an excellent perspective on wisdom. With King Solomon as the example in Brad’s reflection, we as leaders in our respective vocations can learn a great deal. Amassing a great deal of wisdom (knowledge or experience) does not mean as leaders we will be perfect or always make the right choices. Just as leaders in the business world follow business plans and use data or counsel from boards or committees, as examples of Christlike leaders, we too need to seek counsel and wisdom from scripture and from mentors or from our commilunities of faith. Take a read, and God Bless!

What is Godly wisdom? How do we find it? A reflection about the pitfalls of worldly wisdom and a guide for pursuing Godly wisdom.

Dear Friends and Family,

This time last year, I followed a desire that the Lord had put on my heart long ago by starting my seminary journey at Dallas Theological Seminary. At the same time, I published a weekly blog with Bible-based reflections called Wisdom in a Whisper.

Fast-forward one year. I am poised to begin my second year of seminary and am delighted to announce that the weekly blog, with the help of a Designing Effective Ministries course, has blossomed and is now Wisdom in a Whisper Ministries, a non-profit, non-denominational parachurch ministry whose mission is to love God by equipping, supporting, and inspiring men and women who seek a deeper relationship with the Lord in every season of life.

Our programs include Pastures - Servant Leadership Training and Mentoring, Pastures - "Transitions,"- which supports young men moving out of the foster care system, The Mount Blog and a Prayer Ministry. Our programs are offered for free and rely 100% on the generosity of ministry partners.

We have set a challenge to raise $10,000 as part of our Wisdom Ambassador Campaign. Your support will enable us to cover startup costs and our monthly operational expenses. Please consider becoming a Wisdom Ambassador today!

You can make a donation of any amount here.

Happy Friday friends! Here is part 2 of “Elijah and Lego’s” from Doug MacColl, our Program Director for Pastures, our Servant Leadership Training and Mentoring program. In Part 2, Doug explores how God uses wilderness experiences to prepare all of us for work. As you read today’s reflection, consider how God has prepared you or is preparing you for something bigger. Could it be a new job role? Becoming a parent or grandparent? Or perhaps just being a better leader in your church or home?

Part two of Doug’s Elijah and Legos series, where Doug explores how God uses wilderness experiences to prepare us for His work.

Journey with us over the next few days as Doug MacColl, Program Director for Pastures, shares some reflections on the life and ministry of Elijah. In Part 1 of “Elijah and Lego’s” Doug challenges us to consider our own boldness of faith and obedience in following God, regardless of the circumstances.

Join along as Doug uses a familiar childhood toy to take us on part one of a journey through the life and ministry of the prophet Elijah.

Happy Monday Friends! There is a popular saying that goes something like, “The sun always shines even after the darkest of nights.” Much like we’d be totally caught off guard if the sun didn’t rise in the morning, we can be equally caught off guard when life hits us with heartache or hardship. Fortunately, we serve a God who performs miracles and whose very nature is to embrace us when darkness comes. Today as you read this reflection from Brad Brown, I challenge you to let your hearts marinade in the eternal joy our Lord has for each of us!

An encouraging message from Psalm 30:5 for times of spiritual darkness.

Leader, mentor, and coach…one of the hardest jobs or “titles” to have. Why? Because it’s not about YOU. Its not about hitting YOUR goal or number. It’s about seeing the potential and talents in OTHERS, and working each day to inspire THEM to become that version of themselves. As a leader, mentor or coach, you become the steward of others successes and goals.
