DPS latest on area fatalities:

Preliminary Report (Burnet)
On December 4, 2023 at approximately 2:11 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to a major crash with a passenger car engulfed in flames. The vehicle was traveling northbound on US Highway 281 and crossed the center line. Two vehicles were traveling south on US Highway 281. The two vehicles attempt to avoid the collision. The northbound vehicle struck the second southbound vehicle. As a result of the crash, the driver of the northbound vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary Report (Blanco)
On December 4, 2023, at approximately 2:53 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to a head-on collision on US 281 in Round Mountain in Blanco County. The 2015 Ford F250 was traveling south on US 281. The 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling north on US 281. For unknown reasons at this time, the Ford traveled into the northbound lane and struck the Dodge. As a result of the crash, the driver of the Dodge was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Burnet County voters passed ESD No. 3 - Voters within Emergency Services District 3 (including voting precincts 3, 9, 18) accepted Proposition A, a local sales and use tax at 2%. The district includes much of southwest Burnet County outside the incorporated cities of Granite Shoals and Highland Haven.

Meadowlakes voters passed CO's - Proposition A, certificates of obligation of $7.5 million to renovate the city-owned golf course, improve the city-owned utility system and garner taxes and surplus revenue from the city water and sanitary system sewer system to lower outstanding debt.
