9 things you need in your hospital bag
This list works for some but not others. I wanted to gather a list of items that are most common for parents to pack while they are away bringing new life into the world.
Let's start! ππ»
π A book/magazine/any reading material. Labor is BORING so it's nice to have something to look at that isn't your phone.
π Clothes for mom, baby, and partner. This includes a delivery gown, pajamas, go home clothes for mom/baby, etc.
πΆπΌ Baby outfit. Everyone loves a good newborn announcement pic so make sure to pack a cute outfit. My advice is to pack a couple different sizes in case one outfit doesn't fit.
𧴠General toiletries. This includes shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, toothbrush/paste, hair brush, skin care cream, etc. That first shower after giving birth is a thing of beauty (iykyk).
π± General electronics. Obviously your phone, headphones, chargers, tablets, smart watches, etc. Make sure to get that extra long charging cord because the hospital beds are HUGE.
ποΈ Your own pillow/blankets from home. Again, iykyk but those pull out couches are the WORST and it's always nice to have a little comfort of home.
π§’ Hat for baby. Especially if you give birth in the colder months but it's always nice to put a little cap on your new baby. Their skin is so delicate those first few weeks so it's best to keep it protected.
π§ Water bottle. Make sure to bring a refillable water bottle from home. You will both want to stay hydrated.
π Snacks! The hospital may have a cafeteria or vending machines but it's great to bring along some healthy options from home. Most places will allow you to order food (DoorDash, UberEats, etc). Hospital food isn't the worst but you can definitely do better!
That's the main points! Let me know what you recommend for the long few nights in the hospital with your babies!
