I'm no good at marketing myself, I like to just get in there and create, organize and plan. that's what I'm good at. Did a little self love and pampering this morning. First stop was Impact Wellness Spa where I tried the bodystyler for the first time and L❤️ved it!!! Then to my favorite coffee shop, Jenn's Java where I ordered a sandwich on their new GF cloud bread. Just a little relaxation and food before a long 2 full days of work ahead of me where I'm be putting in close to 25 hours before my day off on Sunday.

I did it! Did what you might ask? I took some time that I didn't really have, and took back my office! I did a little rearranging, and some organizing, and made it feel like mine again. I was having such a hard time focusing on school work, sticking to goals, and finding the ambition to work my freelance business, and a BIG part of it came from my workspace. So, today, upon sitting down at my small cluttered and cramped area where I am constantly knocking stuff down, I decided to take some time and fix it. I moved my "desk" and other things around, tossed some stuff out that wasn't needed, and cleaned up a little. I feel energized and ready to go, and I can't wait for April and to implement all the new projects I have been wanting to start but been neglecting for one reason or another. Spring is in the air, hehee, and I can't wait for warmer weather and bluer skies.

Going through readings today to get caught up in my Principles of Management class that ends on Friday, and it was about the most ethical companies from 2017, I know a little outdated. So of course I had to look up and see if FedEx was on the list, and I can honestly say I am proud to work for a company that makes the Honoree list. I hope this is something I can continue to help instill in my team so we can achieve this status every year. I can see myself long term at this company, and that's isn't something I have felt or seen in a long time. I still have freelance aspirations, but knowing I have stability and longevity at a place of employment that makes me feel included, heard, understood, justified, supported, etc, is more than I could have hoped for. I am so beyond grateful and blessed for the opportunities that have come my way, from being let go from Dowco prior to their closing, to the mini promotion, to some amazing leadership. It's the first time in a LONG time I feel I'm on the right path, plus it's giving me the tools I need to make my freelance dreams come true. I'm still on this journey, I'm just taking the scenic route to get there.

I'm so excited, today I let my creative juices flow. I created a social media post planning template so I can start planning out monthly posts both for myself and my clients. I also sent a rough outline for the month of March for one of my new clients. I look forward to where things are headed and what adventures freelancing has to offer in my future.

I'm sorry I haven't posted much, we got hit with Covid right after the holidays, and it's taking me much longer to recover. I have always been transparent with you guys that my schooling comes first, and this semester I have an accounting class that is kicking my behind. I am struggling with it, and it is taking me much longer to complete assignments than it has in the past, and thus, I don't have much extra time to dedicate to my own business or page.

I have done a lot of thinking about what I want to do and how I want to proceed with freelancing, and I have come to the conclusion, that I need to feel included and like part of the solution. I want to be able to connect with whatever business I am working with and to help make them better.

Ultimately I want to do contracting work, where I go in on the floor level and help a company find out what their problems are and how to fix them to improve culture and profits. I'm still working on a way to make that happen.

In the meantime, I am open to taking on one VA or SMM client before spring, some place that knows what they need or want from me, and can give me direction on what tasks they need every day/week/month. Shout out to Theresa Falvey-Hunt at State of Grace Well-Being for the most amazing, uplifting, relaxing, weight-releasing, immersive experience I've had in a long time. I went in with an open mind and zero expectations, and she delivered above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. I can't wait to see the long term benefits over the next couple of days from the reflexology and reiki session, and I will definitely be booking regular reiki sessions going forward. Thank you again so much for your kindness and warmth and giving me a safe space to be vulnerable and raw. I appreciate you beyond words and am so grateful and blessed that you were brought into my life when you were.

As I sit hear and submit another accounting assignment, working on homework late into the night when I should be sleeping, I am overwhelmed with emotion. Tomorrow my boy turns 11, and I know that one day he is going to look back and see that all of mom's hard work and effort, sleepless nights and long days were worth it when I have that degree in my hand, a job I love, a house of our own, and a life that sets him up for success, were worth it! The past couple of years haven't been easy, but I am continuing to learn and grow as a person, as a mom, as a leader, and I'm not stopping. 2024, I'm coming for you, and you best believe I'm not going to let anything get in my way from making all my dreams come true and goals become reality!

I had to share this quote from my principles in management textbook with you this morning because it rings true for so many companies I've worked for and so many managers I've worked under and this inhibits the progression of change.......

"The brain excels at organizing information into categories, and it doesn’t like to expend the effort to re-arrange once the categories are established. As a result, we tend to pay more attention to information that confirms our existing beliefs and less attention to information that is contrary to our beliefs, a shortcoming that is referred to as confirmation bias.8"

When you get comfortable, anything outside that comfort circle can seem foreign, but you can't move forward without change.
