Happy Father's Day dads. Bob Bennett originally wrote this song when he learned that his father had a heart attack, and one of the first thoughts he had was remembering his dad taking him to his little league games (to which Bob admits being terrible at). The song is a classic, and the video is priceless.

When I was a T-Ball Dad, I took my video camera to one of my son's games. Inspired by Bob Bennett's classic song, "A Song About Baseball," I created this tri...

If you're looking for something to add to your summer reading list, you may want to check out David & The Giants frontman David Huff's autobiography "The Other Me." He tells his story warts and all--from a kid playing country music to rock & roller to sold out for Jesus gospel rocker. It's an interesting read. I loved the back stories to a lot of David & The Giants songs. David Huff even did a stint as a radio DJ once upon a time!

Does anyone remember the Ross Bagley Show that used to air on CBN? Long before MTV was a thought, Ross featured artists performing on his TV show. His show ran from the 70s up through the early to mid 80s. In 1980, as a new believer with zero knowledge of CCM, I came across his program one day, and was instantly hooked. This was where I first heard Scott Wesley Brown, Barry McGuire, Jamie Owens-Collins, The Pat Terry Group, The Talbot Brothers plus a host of others. To the best of my aging memory, everyone performed live. I owe Ross Bagley a huge debt for introducing me to CCM. After seeing his program, I went to a local record store (I didn't even know what a Bible bookstore was then!!) and found Scott Wesley Brown "I'm Not Religious" and "The Best of Barry McGuire". This vintage clip of The Imperials will give you a glimpse of his show.

After mentioning my "short list" of Jesus Music essentials on Scott Wesley Brown's birthday, I starting thinking, "What would be on my short list?" Here's my top ten. What's yours? (editor's note--somehow, I missed Phil Keaggy "What A Day"! Sorry Phil!)

Pat Boone is 90 today! Happy birthday to one of the unsung heroes of contemporary Christian music. Pat helped Randy Stonehill record his first album. Among others, Larry Norman, Scott Wesley Brown and DeGarmo & Key all have Pat Boone stories. He also founded Lamb & Lion Records. His recordings of a number of those early Jesus Music songs had to have been a big boost to those new emerging artists.

Music director Kristi Leigh is adding a new song from Phil Wickham "This Is Jesus" to the WJTL playlist. Did you know Phil has a connection to the "Jesus Revolution" age? HIs dad, guitarist John Wickham, met Jesus at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and was in the pioneering bands The Way and Parable. His mom Lisa Irwin was also in Parable. Phil Wickham definitely has the music genes!

Happy birthday to Jim Rice of Brush Arbor. They started out back in the late 60s as a bluegrass group The Rice Kryspies. Later as Brush Arbor they released a long string of albums. And Jim Rice has written some books as well. Here's a proverbial "blast from the past"! (Jim Rice is the one in the red shirt)

Brush Arbor was a guest of Johnny Cash on his NBC TV Special in December 1973. Other guests on the show included Bill Monroe, Larry Gatlin, Tanya Tucker, th...

Discover amazing music and directly support the artists who make it.

Richie Furay is 80 today! He has a musical legacy from the 60s (with Au Go Go Singers, Buffalo Springfield, Poco), led to Jesus by Al Perkins in the 70s, and has been a long time Calvary Chapel Pastor. It appears he is still on staff here, and they have some of his sermons archived.
