The nation’s most-decorated collegiate yearbook is the Royal Purple, which has been chronicling the stories of Kansas State every year since 1909. It has received more All-American ratings than any of its peers, and has won dozens of Gold Crown awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.

K-State Women’s basketball head coach Jeff Mittie reached 600 coaching wins after the game against Central Arkansas on November 7, 2022. The wildcats won 83-43. Congrats coach!

Our time at MediaFest22 in Washington, D.C. can only be described as a once in a lifetime experience. The Associated Collegiate Press announced the Royal Purple as #1 on the ACP Pacemaker 100 list, meaning this yearbook has won more Pacemaker awards than any other college student media outlet in the past 100 years. The Pacemaker award is considered the Pulitzer Prize of college journalism, so we are incredibly proud.

We could not have been more happy to have previous RP advisers Ron Johnson and Linda Puntney there with us to celebrate this honor. This is truly a testament to the hard work of all previous RP staffs, who through their dedication to documenting the history of K-State also created a highly respected publication. Linda Puntney said it best herself: “So raise a glass, pat yourself on the back and bask in the limelight of being the best in the nation.”🥳💜

K-State Union Programming Council hosted a headphone disco on September 23, 2022. Students gathered on Bosco Plaza to listen to music through their own headphones while dancing together.
