Both the newspaper and public access television show are named after one of the greatest and relatively unknown Americans, DeWitt Clinton. Often referred to as "Clinton's Ditch" by his detractors, the Erie Canal opened up the mid-west to trade from Europe and the Middle East at reduced costs. Along the way to Lake Erie, many small outposts at the canal locks flourished into the towns located in

New York helping to make it the Empire State. As a United States Senator, DeWitt Clinton introduced the 12th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States whereby the President and Vice President would be elected from the same political party. Prior to the 12th Amendment, the President and the Vice President could hail from two different political parties therefore making forward progress for the United States during the time of its formative years, a burden at the very least.
