How to counter social media as a distraction
I know how hard it is not be tempted to stay on TikTok for 3 hours plus with all the social media distractions out there, it's hard not to spend all day scrolling through your favorite Instagram accounts. But it's also important to remember that you have a job to do—a job that pays your bills and gives you something valuable to do with your life.
So how can you balance the two? Here are some tips:
𝟙. Set a timer for 20 minutes of work and 20 minutes of social media (if you're feeling really ambitious!)
𝟚. If you're working on something that requires deep focus, try putting your phone in another room so that you don't get distracted by notifications while working
𝟛. When you have time off from work, set aside some time each day to catch up on news, entertainment, and other things that aren't related to work.

Negative thoughts are an unfortunate part of life.
We all have them, and sometimes they’re unavoidable. But when you start to notice those negative thoughts creeping into your mind, it’s important to recognize them and take action.
Here are some tips on how to avoid negative thoughts:
🟡Don’t stress about the future or the past. Worrying about what might happen or what happened can make you feel anxious, but it doesn’t change anything because you can’t rewrite you past and you have no control over the future. But you have control over your present 🫶
🟠Be grateful for what you have right now. When you’re feeling down or stressed out, remember all of the good things in your life—and there are always good things! Even if it’s just a little thing like enjoying a cup of coffee or listening to music while you work on a project for school or work, remind yourself that these little moments add up over time and make up a lot of who we are as people overall (and not just at one particular moment).
🔵 Don’t let yourself get too hungry. When you’re hungry, your body releases stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, which can make it hard for you to focus on anything other than food.
🟤 Make sure you’re well-rested. A good night’s sleep will help make sure that your brain is functioning at top capacity when it comes to avoiding negative thoughts.
🟣 My favorite- Keep a journal where you write down all your accomplishments so far (even if they seem small). Then read through it when things get tough—it’ll help remind you that this isn’t new territory for you at all because you’ve gone through it all before and you can do it again ❤️😊

One of the best ways to do this is by using affirmations. An affirmation is a positive statement about who you are and what you deserve in life. It helps us to see ourselves in a new way—as someone who deserves happiness and success, someone who can overcome any obstacle that comes their way. When we start saying these things out loud (or even just thinking them!), they become part of how we see ourselves—and that means they become part of how we behave as well. So if your mind keeps telling you “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll never find love,” then change those thoughts into affirmative ones instead! No matter how bad things get, keep reminding yourself that there’s another way ❤️❤️🫶
