Twenty-one states and 48 cities and counties are set to raise their minimum wages on Jan. 1, according to a report provided exclusively to USA TODAY by the National Employment Law Project, a worker advocacy group. Other states and a few more cities and counties will raise their minimum wages later in 2025.

The minimum wage is going up in a record 23 states and 65 cities and counties in 2025. More areas are adopting $15 an hour - or higher - as pay floor

It’s not a new concept, but Women Behind the Wheel is unique to Georgia. Similar programs exist across the country, such as Refugee Women Rising in Omaha, Nebraska, which offers driver’s education, seat belt safety and car seat installation help, and Driving Opportunity in Denver, which offers classroom and road instruction to refugee women.

A greater Atlanta program called Women Behind the Wheel offers 14 hours of free drivers’ education to mostly refugee and immigrant women.
