OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM AWEIL SOUTH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
Date: 11th January 2026

Aweil South Football Association (ASFA) is compelled to address the issues surrounding the Aweil South Inter-Payam Tournament. The lack of unity and clarity on leadership has led to concerns about the tournament's organization.

1️⃣ Aweil South Football Association ( ASFA) is the governing body for football in Aweil South County. No tournament can proceed without our knowledge and approval.
2️⃣ We demand to know who's leading the tournament and who'll take responsibility for its success or failure.
3️⃣ The County authorities will be held accountable for this tournament.
4️⃣ Last year's tournament saw ASFA equipment destroyed, with no accountability. We won't tolerate this again.

We urge organizers to come forward and work with ASFA to ensure a successful tournament.

Complaints of Neglecting Sports Cluster.

What Sports contribute to the community

"Sports can bridge divides and build connections in the community across the globe, maybe more effectively than traditional methods. For example, initiatives like the South Sudan Basketball teams bring people together, South Sudan Premier league in the context to our country bring people together, foster teamwork, and create a sense of unity - that's huge in a community with diverse backgrounds. Plus, sports can be a neutral ground for dialogue, like how football (soccer) has been used in peace-building efforts in conflict zones globally.

In Juba, local tournaments, community tournaments could boost social cohesion and provide opportunities for youth engagement. Imagine a local league where kids from different neighborhoods play together, build friendships, and learn teamwork skills being undermine. My bad🙏🙏🙏

We could leverage sports for community outreach, too, like using football clinics to promote health messages or teach conflict resolution skills.

Specifically, we could:
1-Partner with local schools to start sports clubs can bring peace
2- Host inter-community tournaments to encourage mingling
3- Use sports events for awareness campaigns (e.g., malaria prevention, HIV test, education through sports)
4- Train youth leaders through sports coaching programs. We have Rumbek Football Association (RFA) and Yirol Football Association

With the above-mentioned elements and the positive impact on our community as Agaar, I don't see a reason why the sports cluster was neglected in this conference. We thought it should be the leading means to bring us together.

We needs
1- Playgrounds, in all 8 counties of Lakes State, in all Payam Headquarters and in all residential areas within Rumbek at least 2-3 playgrounds in each area
2-Sport equipments
3- Well trains Human resources
4- Funding
And all this needs to be communicated in such a conference.
I appeal to the committee having the resolutions to consider the above-mentioned requests.

Clarification on why I have not yet declared my candidacy

Dear family, friends, and the entire Ciec Manyiel community,

I want to take a moment to clarify why I have not yet officially declared my candidacy for the position of Chairperson of Ciec Girls Foundation.

As a firm believer in structure, order, and respect for institutional processes, I have chosen to wait for the Independent Electoral Committee (IEC) to complete its constitutional mandate. According to this Foundation’s guiding principles, no applicant can be considered a candidate before the IEC reviews all submissions and announces the list of eligible contenders. Until then, no one is officially a candidate.

For that reason, I believe it would be premature and a clear disregard for our constitution to announce a candidacy before IEC has completed its mandate. Any individual doing so is not only ignoring procedure but also setting a dangerous precedent that undermines the rules we all agreed to follow.

As someone who respects the constitution and the values that hold this foundation together, I will wait for the official green light from the IEC before making any public declaration. This is not just about following rules, it’s about integrity, discipline, and the kind of leadership we want for Ciec Girls Foundation.
