The Aweil South Local Football Association is proud to announce the champions of the SSD Cup for the 2024-2025 season.
2nd Champions: Saruk Football Club
Saruk Football Club, established in 2022 under the leadership of Mr. Jacob D**g Aleu, has emerged as the current champion of the SSD Cup 2024. This club has consistently demonstrated excellence in Aweil South Local Football Association.
Previous Champions.
1. Young Star Football Club-
1st champion of the SSD Cup in 2023. This remarkable achievement marked the first time in Aweil South's history that a team took the South Sudan Cup, making it a significant milestone for our region.
Saruk Football Club will proudly represent Aweil South County in the National South Sudan Cup 2024-2025.

Reforms Have Both Positive and Negative Effects: Beneficial to the Government, Detrimental to Corrupt Officials.

There is an old saying, "A clean house is both a blessing and a burden." While the process of cleaning can bring fresh air and order, it also requires the removal of unwanted items. Similarly, reform brings benefits to the government but can be disruptive to those who have thrived under the previous system. Our Country, an oil-rich state, has been severely affected by an ongoing economic crisis. On the other hand, political instability and the conflict in Sudan which halted the flow of oil, have compounded the problem. While efforts to resume oil operations continue, non-oil revenue collection has become more important but have previously remains poorly managed due to a lack of accountability.

The South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA) has long struggled with mismanagement, which has been a major contributing factor to the country’s economic woes. The failure to generate non-oil revenues transparently has meant that civil servants often go without their salaries for extended periods. This has created a serious financial strain on the country and its institutions.

Therefore, a promising change has come with the appointment of Hon. Simon Akuei Deng. With 15 years of experience in financial management, Hon. Simon Akuei brings the expertise needed to address the inefficiencies and corruption that have hindered progress within the SSRA.

Hon. Simon Akuei’s reforms are focused on improving the transparency and accountability of revenue collection, particularly non-oil revenues. By instituting these changes, the government aims to ensure that civil servants are paid on time, and public funds are properly managed. No country should allow its workers to go without salaries for months, especially when the potential for generating non-oil revenue exists. These reforms represent a long-awaited shift in how public finances will be managed, with the goal of stabilizing the country’s economy and ensuring that civil servants receive their wages regularly.

The implementation of these reforms will inevitably affect those officials who have been involved in corrupt practices or who lack the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively. As the SSRA is restructured, individuals who have failed in their responsibilities will be replaced by capable, honest professionals who are committed to ensuring proper revenue collection. These changes will improve the overall functioning of government institutions, creating a more accountable and transparent system that benefits the citizens of South Sudan.

Nevertheless, the road to reform will not be without resistance. There are those who have benefitted from the previous system and will attempt to undermine the changes for their own gain. These individuals prioritize their personal interests over the well-being of the country. Yet, with Hon. Simon Akuei Deng at the helm of the SSRA, corruption will no longer be tolerated. The institution has been revitalized, and those who oppose these reforms will either have to adapt or find other opportunities, as malpractice will no longer be accepted. The reforms are in place, and South Sudan is moving toward a more transparent and accountable future under the Visionary leadership of H. E. President Kiir.
