Been out and pretty disconnected from social media for about a month and some change and it's because of me finally moving back home to PR(Puerto Rico). I've spent this time connecting back with family and working the usual stuff that you have to do whenever you move. Thanks to everyone that knew, found out or asked around about me and then wrote to me with those good wishes and vibes, love and appreciate you all! Also thanks for all of you that wrote and got in touch for music work, especially those of you who wrote to me that you wanted to work with me when I got here and ya'll are making those moves just like you said ya'll would, ya'll the real MVPs! Now getting back to it. I'll be more available from now on so I'll be getting back to those who I haven't and what not. Again, wether it was to book some work, getting estimates and literally following up with me on how you're managing to get that bread to spend on music work with me(when you don't have to but it's awesome because it shows interest) or it being just to wish me luck on whatever it is that I'm doing, thank you all! Here's to the future, new beginnings, new goals and new destinations in life!

Ps, here's a picture of how the brand new studio construction is going! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐ŸคŸ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜ˆโœŒ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ”ฅ

It is with great excitement and much enthusiasm that I can finally let you all know that Fenrir Studios will be moving its main location to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Where we will be developing our very own facility from scratch to the best convenience of our artists and studio's overall output. We will be doing remote work(online based), mobile recording via my mobile recording rig wether within the island or traveling to wherever any artist needs me to and of course, our main new facility in PR for those of you who either reside in the island and or want to travel to it for your musical needs to be met and lets face it, who doesn't want to enjoy their recording process for their next project while being in and enjoying the island? ๐Ÿ˜‰
There is a lot of good things coming for the studio in the very near future and I can't wait for you all to be a part of it! Can't wait to bring you along and for us to work together in this new endeavor ๐Ÿ–ค ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ท๐ŸŽš๐ŸŽ›๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽถ

Also, we're booked for the rest of the month and some of the next. So if you need any editing work, mixing, mastering, orchestral arrangements, programmed drums/bass, my playing or singing or any way full production/writing let me know soon!

One of my favorite parts of mixing is automation. It's where after getting your flat/fader mix sounding good, you go deeper into what you want up or down, on or off and at what time during the song and where you really give the song dynamics and have the opportunity to make things feel a lot of different ways. It's most of the time where transitions fall flat on their face if you skip/ignore it or make them have even more impact than what they already have. In this case, drum and bass automation to create dynamics and more transitional impact. First half has a lot of groovy tom work so bass goes down while drums go up to emphasize/highlight the drums. Next section drums go back down to normal level and bass goes a bit over the drums changing from background support to completely carrying and pushing the section forward giving it nice transitional impact and "bigness" feel to the new section making it feel like it hits more. Pair this with a nice boost on your master bus right when the section hits and the effect amplifies itself lot more.

From a drummer's perspective, my favorite rudiment are by far the flams. I love how they can make something feel big and groovy and when you place them in the middle of a fast fill that sort of hault effect to either end the fill or continue with the fast stuff while making things sound a bit spicier and not as static/linear as straight 16th singles all the time is one of my favorite things to write/play as a drummer. Here's a little section with some flams here and there with drums first and then in context.

If you're a drummer, what are your favorite rudiments?

Some of the orchestral arrangements I've been doing as of late. Nice little secret/hack to create cinematic drum sounds or even stacking them on top of actual drums.

One of my favorite things to do when it comes to audio, DRUM EDITINGโ—๏ธOne of the things I've seen that happens a lot which I like is that you always keep getting better at it, more efficient, faster and so on. What a lot of people don't know or just don't think about is that there's many different ways to do so and many different results that can be achieved through the type of editing you do. For example:

-Editing with the intent of keeping and/or not destroying the feel while simultaneously making things tighter.

-Completely to the grid(Harder than what most people think because you can't always hard grid everything, in which case you have to find a way to make it sound hard gridded.

-Editing to make things have a certain feel that isn't there, but it's desired such as a metal track feeling faster due to the drummer feeling like he's pushing the track while STILL being in time. Usually a more desired feel for fast parts in metal music that have a lot of double bass work and what not.

-The opposite, making drums feel laid back, wide, big and open sounding which usually comes by the drummer being a bit behind the beat, again, while STILL being in time. Especially desired in slower parts like bridges or choruses.

-A mixture of a lot of these, such as faster and pushed sections in the song while others feel more laid back or even a combination of pushing, behind AND on the grid all in one same song or even a same section. Maybe you want half a section a certain way, the fills another and what comes after the fill another way. Or even deeper like only half of a fill being gridded and the other half rushed or behind, the options are unlimited creative wise!

-Whatever it is, it is very important that you master the craft of drum editing so that you can provide to your artists exactly what they want, regardless of if you're working with real drums or programmed, all these can be obtained with both.

That being said, if you're tired of spending a lot of time with those drum edits and not quite getting the results you want or not fast enough, I can help you with those. Anywhere from a couple of hours to a day tops.I absolutely love this and would be glad to help outโ—๏ธ

Some drum programing done earlier today with one of my favorite drum sample kits from , the invasion kit. This is part of the guitar solo section ๐Ÿ˜ˆ๐ŸŽธ if the solo is ripping and energetic I like the drummer to tag along so we can both steal the show by having the drums complimenting the solo and if it's more mellow or a balad style I do prefer more space for the guitar to sing a little bit more but I'd still want some sort of orquestral synchronization between the two. It can be the rhythm guitars or the actual solo guitar. Whatever fits best.

Hit us up if you want some programmed drums from some sick drum libraries for your next proyect!

What's your favorite drum sample library and why?
Do you like the drummer to tag along and make the solo section more bombastic or do you prefer the spotlight more for yourself with everyone laying back?
