So many beer fests this season on Cape Ann! Next week (Sunday, Oct. 13) it's the 4th Annual Magtoberfest benefiting the Magnolia Library and Community Center. The fun starts at 11 a.m.! Then, next weekend, it's Manchester-by-the-Sea HarborFest 2024 (Oct. 18-20) with carnival rides, games and beer garden at Masconomo Park benefiting Manchester-Essex Athletic Boosters Club. Two weekends in a row. Mark your calendars!

Sadly, it has come to our attention that Carolyn Cassidy, who taught Grade One at Essex Elementary School for more than 41 years, has died. Carolyn’s funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday October 5 at the First Church of Hamilton, 630 Bay Rd., Hamilton, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Sadly, it has come to our attention that Manchester’s own, Gordon MacDougall, has died at the remarkable age of 101. A true original, Gordon was the proud multi-year recipient of both the Boston Post Cane and the Manchester Elder Brethren’s award celebrating our town’s eldest citizen. A service has been scheduled for this coming Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Cornerstone Church.

Cape Ann Plein Air Festival Week, being held this year October 5-13th, culminates at the Collectors’ Preview Party: Celebrating the Freshest Art on Cape Ann! This is THE art event of the year!

35 artists from all over the world will display more than 175 fresh paintings created during the week on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the venerable North Shore Arts Association from 6PM-9PM.
