We have been approached regarding the homeless situation in Toms River area.

Fact.1 Just Believe has “no” zero! Overnight Shelters or warming facilities in Toms River.. The centers in Toms River currently are ran by other Nonprofit Organizations.

fact.2. our “new” center in South Toms River is a 20 bed facility were highest number has been 18 people including children. We love ❤️ it!

fact 3. At the new site we average 12 people a night including families and we only serve Ocean County. Most of are clients drive and a handful take the van.

fact 4. Our original code blue site hosted 30 people a night and we were allowed to leave all 30 cots up because the building was underutilized. We always worked within the community contract!

Final fact. We have a new widespread approach to help people a cross Ocean County instead of focusing on one municipality as we did for 7 years..

You can’t take something away and expect it to have the same value and impact..

Today we received the sad news of the passing of John Neary, known to all as muskrat Jack. Muskrat Jack has worked in animal control for the majority of his life. He began helping residents with animal control at the young age of 12. At this young age while he was crawling through attics to help neighbors remove unwanted animals, he found his calling. His skills and dedication quickly grew, and he started being employed in multiple towns including Point Pleasant Beach, Bayhead, Mantoloking, and more. He has helped residents throughout the years with every type of animal control complaint you can think of. He was not afraid of any animal, and over his long career he took his fair share of scrapes, cuts, bruises and bites. He was a great guy with a kind heart who surely will be missed. To the Point Pleasant Police Department he was considered a coworker, colleague, and expert, but most of all, we considered him a friend. He will be remembered by the residents of Point Pleasant and the surrounding communities and especially by the Point Pleasant Police Department.
