racing in Sydney kicks off tonight (EST and PST), but the US team will be watching from the sidelines following a practice day capsize. "This is a great opportunity to learn more than we would normally about the T-foils and what other teams are doing with them," says helmsman Taylor Canfield. "There’s plenty to learn sitting on the sidelines." For more insight, hit the link.

A capsize en route to the practice race put an early end to the US team's hopes of rebound in Sydney.

As gets ready to role in Sydney, SailGP Canada shares the story behind the injury of flight controller Billy Gooderham in Auckland last month. Definitely gives us a great appreciation of how difficult and punishing the F50s are in the top-end.

Wow. This 🔥 news from the Royal Ocean Racing Club: "Entry to the Rolex Fastnet Race opened at 1000 UTC this morning and within just minutes staggering new records were set in terms of the speed with which boats registered and their quantity...From the moment the flood gates opened the RORC’s entry portal SailRaceHQ was already running red hot. With duplicate entries removed by 1100 435 registrations had been received. As Race Director Steve Cole observed: “This morning 217 yachts had registered in the first minute compared to 178 last time. 420 had entered in the first five minutes which took two hours last time.”
From the Ultimes to the IMOCAs, IRC weapons and multiple one-design groups, it's one heck of a fleet.

Our favorite East Coast race week—the only and only Storm Trysail Club Block Island Race Week—just got better with news of hosting the ORC - Offshore Racing Congress North Americans this summer. Deets over at orc.org and BIRW, but "to be eligible to compete in the ORC NAC, entries will need to have valid ORCi certificates and comply with all other requirements in the Notice of Race. A technical committee will be on-site to provide guidance on rule compliance for all ORC entries and STC race organizers."

Our harbor burn on the new 23-foot J/7 may go down as the most frigid test of all time, but while the wind was ❄️, the sailing was 🔥. Here's our take on the latest day sailer and jib-and-main racer from J/Boats, Newport, RI.

The anticipated J/7 is finally in the H20. Jeff Johnstone has been waiting years to make this a reality. Why wait for warm weather when Newport Harbor is empty and the wind is fine. J/Boats, Newport, RI has done it again. Looking forward to a frostbite session this weekend!
