From breaking news to love letters to announcements, messages seemed "instant" and society was hooked. The use of telegrams as a means of communication began to decline in the 1920's as newer technologies arrived and much of the credit goes to this predecessor of "Instant Messaging". #archiveresearch #giwfootage #americaninventors #WesternUnion #communicationhistory
