An ALERT DAY is in the forecast for tonight through Tuesday night for the likelihood of heavy rain. The severe weather risk is small for this system, but localized flooding is possible. Widespread showers and storms will move in late tonight and continue through the early morning. Isolated showers are possible during the afternoon before another round of widespread showers and storms impacts our area during the evening. The evening round of rain will likely be the heaviest.

We're ending the work week with a chance for showers and thunderstorms beginning during the morning hours on Friday. This may make it harder for severe thunderstorms to develop by later Friday afternoon with localized strong winds and large hail as the main threats.

The rain wraps up throughout Saturday morning leaving the rest of the day, and the weekend, with more sunshine and cooler temperatures.

The Foxcast Weather Team continues to watch the formation of a second line of thunderstorms to our northwest near Minneapolis. This line is expected to strengthen and rapidly move southeast overnight. Weather models show two possible outcomes: One shows all of southern Wisconsin receiving a line of strong storms with damaging winds during the early morning hours of Tuesday. Another keeps this line of strong storms further north towards central Wisconsin. Regardless of the final track, it is a good idea to have a way to receive warnings overnight.
