(( Water Rescue in Eden ))

Smith River, King’s Highway bridge, today around 5:45 pm. Eight people got out safely. 18 people in the last two weeks have been hung up on a large log in the river. Eden Rescue Squad trained at the site last weekend. Chief Jason Wood says it’s dangerous, and everyone in canoes, kayaks and floaters should go downstream on the left side of the bridge to avoid the area until the log is removed. Eden Fire and Police, Madison-Rockingham and Reidsville Rescue Squads assisted Eden Rescue Squad. Thanks to Chief Wood for the photo.
