For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn towards creative activities. When I was a little girl, playing Barbie’s meant organizing and decorating the Barbie house to look beautiful but never actually playing with the dolls. I excelled in art and music classes in high school and graduated college with a degree in music education. As an adult living on my own for the first time, I wanted to h

ave a decorated home worthy of a magazine cover. Of course my budget was significantly smaller than those homes that graced the covers of my favorite magazines. My very first home project was painting my kitchen cabinets and the wood paneling…a lot of wood paneling. When my husband and I bought our first house we had a lot of updating and space to fill. It only took me a few trips to the furniture stores to realize not only did I not want to pay the prices of new furniture but that the furniture I was finding wasn’t of the greatest quality. I found myself on more than one occasion saying “I could build that.” So one day, I did. I’ve now built a business painting life back into old pieces of furniture, building new pieces, and creating beautiful spaces for client’s homes. I continue to experiment with new techniques and advancing my skills as an artist and creator to bring my clients the latest trends in home design. I’m so blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom to my beautiful children while having a business doing something I love more and more with each project I complete. is a home decor business offering restored and painted furniture, custom painting services, DIY kits, Products, Wise Owl Paint, redesign with Prima, and occasional Artisan Market Sales. Finished Garden Journal utilizing items from the latest redesign with prima release "Collage Chronicles II".

I used a variety of prima marketing and redesign products to create this journal including:

-Midnight Muses Mould (with resin)
-Botanical Archives Small Transfer
-Art Alchemy Liquid Acrylics
-Matte Decoupage Gel
-5.5 x 8 Art Daily Chipboard Journal
-Various scrapbook papers

It's been quiet here... but I haven't been quiet!

Many of you know that I open Linden Sky Boutique in Madelia, MN. A joint venture with my mother and I, we offer women's clothing, accessories, and gifts and have included my DIY store in the boutique. For the past year I have tried to keep up with both pages keeping DIY here and boutique fashions on the boutique page. Well as you guessed it, it's TOO HARD!

SO here's the plan moving forward:

-One online store, one physical store- While my brand Brushed Design Co. still exists, it's all going to be one store in Linden Sky Boutique. I still carry all your favorite DIY brands and ship anywhere in the US, but you're going to shop at lindenskyboutique.com instead.

-This page remains, but regular posting will occur on the boutique page. Since opening the boutique, I have far less time to create. And this is OKAY. It's another season of life and I'm perfectly fine with it. You'll find more smaller projects on the Boutique page (hello Prima Marketing Inc. !) but furniture projects are not happening as often. I'll pop in now and again, but you'll see me regularly over on the boutique page.

2 weeks ago I had a major abdominal surgery and I have been forced to slow WAY down. I don't sit still well so it's been a struggle. Tonight I took out some of the metallic watercolors from Prima Marketing Inc. and played around with them to create this sign to remind myself to slow down and breathe.
