The commission is responsible for the promotion of Macon & Middle Georgia to film, television and media professionals of all types as a destination/location, serves as a liaison between filmmakers and the community. The Macon Film Commission, a committee of the Macon Film Festival, is here to act as a liaison to filmmakers looking to use the Central Georgia region as a potential location. Whether

RIP James Earl Jones. Jones spent time in Macon while filming the 1976 movie “The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings.” The film used Luther Williams Field as well as a number of other locations in Georgia.

It was a pleasure to recognize Andy Stroud, Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority VP and Terminal Station Manager, for his work as a film ambassador for Macon. Film crews love working with Andy, and his willingness to find a way to say “yes” to productions makes Macon a great place to film!

Bill Marinella Casting is in need of men, women and possibly children for “The Piano Lesson,” based on August Wilson’s play, set in the 1930s. As it is a period film, there would be a paid fitting in Atlanta around December 18-20, a few weeks before filming, which is scheduled for January 5, 7 & 8 in Macon. The rate of pay is $154 for the day of work. There could be night work, meaning you’d need to have childcare arrangements, as you won’t know the call time until the day before filming. Actors needed!!

Central Casting is currently looking for background actors for season four of GENIUS (now streaming on Disney+). This season of Genius tells the dual stories of Civil Rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X.

What: PROTESTORS, ONLOOKERS, MEDIA/PRESS, and CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERS for historic Selma and New York protest scenes

Who: Talent of all races, genders, and ages (18+) with period-appropriate looks. Natural hair, clean shaven. Women should wear up to dress size 8, and men up to chest measurement 44"

When: Required Covid test Sun 1/29 + filming Mon 1/30 and Tue 1/31

Where: Macon, GA

Rate: $140 for 12 hours (plus overtime) + $35 for Covid test

Other Info: Covid testing is required before filming. Production covers the cost of Covid testing, and you will be paid $35 for the Covid test (which we schedule for you during a large flexible time window). The rate for the work date is $140 for twelve hours of work plus time-and-a-half for any overtime accrued.

Scenes being filmed in Macon may be particularly upsetting as they depict Selma’s historic voting rights protest and the violence which ensued. Performers in these scenes may be exposed to simulated violence, up-close contact with other performers, and racially insensitive language including slurs. (Please note that the “n-word” will NOT be used in these scenes per studio requirements, but other slurs may be used.)
