I drove an hour away today to explore a new spot, and hopefully catch a monster pike while wading the river. My only pike strike came on the first cast, and I missed what likely would have been my first 40 inch pike on the whopper plopper. Heartbroken but motivated, I continued on, catching several nice rock bass, sunfish and largemouth on the Arctic Spinner - but no more pike. When I arrived home, I had half an hour to kill, so I crossed the street to try the pond for a bit. On my last cast, I pulled in this absolute TOAD. The pond always has a way of cheering me up! Here's a couple residential pond post-spawn tanks from the other day - both caught on the whopper plopper 130. When I have to stick close to home, I love to hit the ponds, especially this time of year when they are CRUSHING the topwater stuff. Sure as heck beats watching TV.

I’m super proud of my wife - she finally became a certified yoga teacher! She’s been hard at work with training and reading a ton of books - more books than I read in my entire life. Her scores and reviews were outstanding. Hard work pays off!

Turns out it's the same game, with some slightly different variables. Dave and I had an awesome afternoon - we caught a fish every six minutes! The 1/8 oz. T**H by Core Tackle was the key. The slow, wobbly, horizontal, natural fall of our swimbaits set us apart from the crowd. See for yourself!

WOW. Thank you all for helping me reach the 5,000 subscriber milestone. It seems like just yesterday I was saying thank you for 4,000.

My buddy Dave and I caught some LSC tanks on Saturday. We caught almost all 32 of them on 1/8 ounce T**H jigs by and 3.8 inch Keitech swimbaits in “Pro Blue Shiner” color. The 1/8 ounce was KEY to our success. Our baits were falling slower and more naturally, and we were able to creep them super slow on the bottom. I got bit on the fall about 10 times! I followed my gut and put away the 1/4 oz jig heads, and we started getting SLAMMED.
