Brian Barczyk's " The Reptarium " is an amazing in . With a true passion and love for animals they allow guests an interactive experience while they visit. The BHB Reptiles facility is where they raise some of the babies before they are available to the public.
In addition, they are opening a larger building called Legasea Aquarium across the street.

Uber Eats screwed me out of some money, but that's not why I'm posting.
We ordered from Bronx Burgers on Mound last night, trying something new and loving the menu selection.
I asked for an add on and they added a charge. No problem. However, as I was investigating the new charge, I inadvertently hit the cancel button on my order, Uber canceled the order and charged me 42 dollars. The original bill was 49.
Uber Eats being the absolute garbage company that they are, refused to give me my money back or reinstate my order. That's on them. All I have to say about bad business practices is that they always do seem to bite that bad business in the ass, at some point. You reap what you sow, Uber Eats ,just remember that.
I called the restaurant in an absolute panic. 42 dollars is 42 dollars and I don't just have that to donate, atm.
I spoke with the owner, Layla.
She put herself in my shoes and graciously gifted me with her understanding and her empathy at what had occurred. She basically talked me down from the panic ledge I had been dangling off of. She told me I could come and get the food (I don't drive). She told me she would drop it off on her way home (we would have been in bed). She explained why and what the extra charges were and clued me in to how much Uber Eats takes from her to allow for that service.
Without having a "poor me" attitude, she empathized with me because, she too, works 13 hours days and doesn't have extra money to throw away.
She took the time from her business to treat a brand new customer like a lifelong supporter and friend.
In short, she gave of herself.
Layla took my number and called me today. She attempted to get my money back. Predictably, and with an utter lack of good will, Uber Eats said, "No". Can't lose that 30%! The whole stock market will crash!!
She sounded exhausted, but she wanted my address to bring me my money.
In the light of day, the money really wasn't important. The customer service is. Supporting small, local businesses, is important.
This is a small business.
A woman run, small, local business that not only wants to serve good food but ALSO, hang on to your hats folks, ALSO wants to treat you like a human. A valued customer.
PLEASE GO SUPPORT BRONX BURGERS!!
Order carryout on the phone. Go in and have a meal. If you HAVE to order through a third party, that's cool, I have limited options myself..
But go support her!
In lieu of her giving me back my money, I asked her to make some time to sit and have a meal with me and my partner. A meal that we are going to pay for.

Downtown Utica, Michigan wants to expand!!!

HELP US MAKE DOWNTOWN UTICA A DESTINATION!

All Utica residents and business owners are invited to attend a downtown Utica Visioning Meeting. The meeting will take place at the Utica Public Library on Wednesday, February 7th from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.

Utica seeks to improve the city in a variety of ways. Increasing population density in the downtown sector is at the top of the priority list. We hope to attract people to this area by creating a lively walkable downtown district with plenty of amenities.

Our focus will be on Auburn Road, prioritizing finding ways to enhance the sidewalks by making them safer via complete streets. Creating buffers and clear signage could also go a long way in increasing pedestrian safety. Additionally, we hope to help close the gap between downtown and Jimmy John’s Field.

Come prepared and think about your ideas for the following questions:
• What do you like about the current downtown?
• What do you not like about the current downtown?
• What would you like to see in the downtown 10 years in the future?
• How would you like to see connectivity between downtown and Jimmy John’s Field?
