Gambian Talents Promotion is a nonprofit online Public Broadcasting Network who is here to tap, nurture and promote Gambian Talents and culture from around the world as well as inform, educate and entertain Gambians especially through th

e internet. We opened our office in The Gambia in late 2017 and since our primary focus is the youths, our office is managed 100% by young people under the age of 35. Since then, we have equally trained and mentored over 100 young people in the area of Graphic design, Web design, Videography, Public Speaking, Marketing and journalism. We train “backway” returnees, school dropouts and/or students of the University of The Gambia (UTG) and/or other tertiary institutions with little or no practical knowledge in the above fields. Since our inception in 2006, through partnership with several organizations, individuals, companies and promoters around the world, we created the platform for several Gambian Musicians to travel abroad notably to the US, UK and Scandinavia. In 2008, we organized the first Gambian Talents Award during which we recognized and honored talented Gambians in 18 different Categories including music, sports, literally art, fine art, radio and TV personnel just to name a few.Over the years, we have spread our wings and grown from being only promoters of Gambian Talents and culture and turned into a full-fledged nonprofit online Public broadcasting network whose mandate is to educate, inform and entertain Gambians both home and abroad. Our readership, viewers and followers have rapidly grown, thanks to the quality programs, news and activities we present on a daily basis. Gambians and friends of The Gambia in the diaspora form 60% of our followers while Gambians in The Gambia form the other 40% . This is changing rapidly as a result of the new dispensation and easier access to internet. A lot of Gambians in The Gambia were hesitant to engage with the online media due to the political climate of the country at the time. With the new dispensation, our following in The Gambia is rapidly increasing. It is also important to note that a lot of Gambians in the diaspora rely on us greatly to get news, current affairs and happenings in and about The Gambia. On the other hand, Gambians back home rely on us to connect with their families abroad and abreast themselves with current happenings and trendy news from and about Gambians around the world. Our social media pages have a combined following of over 2 hundred thousand and average about 5 million to 12 million people reach/month while our website reaches about 6 hundred thousand to 1 million monthly visits. SENEGAL'S WRESTLING SET TO TAKE ON NEW INNOVATION

Senegalese heavyweight businessman Aziz Ndiaye is set to revolutionize the sport of wrestling in West Africa.

In a recent interview with Lutte TV, he revealed plans to introduce a new format for wrestling matches in Senegal, where bouts will be fought in three rounds.

According to Ndiaye, this change will not only increase the pay for wrestlers but also provide more value for spectators who spend their hard-earned money to watch the fighters compete.

Senegalese wrestling, a unique style of combat, has been criticized for its rule that a wrestler loses if both their hands and knees touch the ground. Critics argue that this rule is unfair and overly punitive, calling it a "cowardly" way to end a match.

LAWYER DARBOE REJECTS CLAIMS OF INTERNAL DIVISION WITHIN UDP

Ousainou Darboe, leader of United Democratic Party has firmly rejected claims of internal conflict within the party, following ongoing speculation about his leadership and political future.

Speaking exclusively to Eye Africa, Darboe said that the allegations of discord were being "blown out of proportion" by opponents seeking to destabilize the party.

He challenged critics to provide concrete evidence to support their claims of an internal crisis within the UDP.

"Those who think that Ousainou Darboe contesting will cause problems for the party are the ones talking about the young people," Darboe said. "But there is no internal problem in the party. Anyone who is a bona fide member has the right to aspire to leadership."

The veteran politician, who served as the UDP's flagbearer in previous elections, went on to explain that party members were free to express their ambitions within the democratic framework of the party.

"You can be a leader of the party and still fail to be the flagbearer," he said, referencing the 2016 election when President Adama Barrow was chosen as the UDP's candidate while Darboe, then the party leader, was imprisoned.

Darboe’s comments come amid growing speculation regarding his potential candidacy in the upcoming 2026 presidential elections. Despite this, he reaffirmed that any decision he made would involve consultations with his family, close allies, and senior party figures, emphasizing that his actions would always be in the best interest of the party.

"Anytime the UDP wants to select a candidate, I will engage my family, my friends, and some senior members of the party before making my decision," he said.

The UDP, one of the country's leading political parties, has been a key player in the Gambia's post-Jammeh political landscape, advocating for democratic reforms and social justice. Despite facing competition from emerging youth leaders, Darboe's influence remains significant, with many still viewing him as a stabilizing force within the party.

DID YAHYA JAMMEH REALLY DISMISS APRC EXECUTIVE MEMBERS, OR IS IT JUST A BASELESS RUMOR?

Exiled former Gambian president Yahya Jammeh has strongly denied claims that he sacked key members of his political party, the APRC, following rumors that circulated on social media.

These allegations suggested that Jammeh had dissolved the Executive Committee of the APRC's "No to Alliance" faction, but he vehemently rejected the accusations in a statement issued on November 10, 2024.

Addressing the issue directly, Jammeh reaffirmed his full support for the APRC leadership under the guidance of Yaya Jimoteh Tamba, the interim leader of the faction, and denied any involvement in party matters outside of the APRC's official hierarchy.

Speaking via a teleconference with party leaders, including National Executive Committee members and regional chairpersons, Jammeh emphasized that he had no social media accounts and was not using digital platforms to communicate with party members.

The former president also challenged party officials to identify the sources of the false claims, reinforcing his commitment to transparency and unity within the APRC.

Despite the internal divisions that have marked the party since its split in 2021, Jammeh remains a central figure among loyalists, who continue to support his vision for the future of the party. As the APRC looks ahead to the 2026 presidential elections, Jammeh’s leadership and influence are set to be key factors in the party's direction.
