I am not the biggest at sharing a lot of my personal life because y’all are here to talk whiskey and ci**rs but today I can’t share it enough.

My son has always had a Navy shirt and even from small age he told us he wanted to wear it because he was going to be a Sailor. We would go to the air force base and he loved seeing all of the branches in attendance. When one shirt would get too small a new one would be bought right in its place.

Today we watched him fulfill that ambition. Now, he wears his uniform with pride.

I never doubted he could do it, and seeing him today gives me so much pride because he has graduated basic training and will start his adventure as a sailor.

There has always been one thing that I absolutely love about whiskey. It’s not the way it makes you feel when you enjoy it, the flavors, or the history and science behind it (even though those are great). It’s about the feeling you get when you share a pour with others.

2023 was filled with awesome conversations with almost all of you. Meeting friends, and traveling to events. Teaching new comers who want to learn and learning from those that already know.

In 2024, I want to keep this train rolling and I want to invite everyone along. I hope to have more fun with all of you whether it’s virtually, or physically. This community is the best out there. So don’t stop making me “work” for it.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

It’s been a tough year, but there is always good with the “bad”. So I wanted to take the time to list some things I am thankful for, this year.

- The support this year from all of you. It’s been a great year of community, not just with other creators but with the community in whole. Y’all are the best.

- My awesome wife () for always letting me take time to make content, talk whiskey, go out to events and not looking at my CC bill. 😉

- My children. Drew is in Naval Basic and I couldn’t be more proud of him following through and serving. Addy for continuing kick butt at school and becoming the young adult she wants to be.

- My grandparents won’t miss the holidays without eachother. They loved hosting the holiday season and I am sure they are somewhere with family having a huge turkey and ham.

Where to begin? 

Overall I’m a pretty simple dude. For the last 15 years I have worked almost exclusively in the sales management for major tech and appliance companies. My job is so fun and has afforded me a really amazing work life balance. I am responsible for the entire east coast and manage an amazing team.

I am a dad to two great kids. My wife and I became parents at 18 and 19 years old and my son absolutely changed our lives. I am so proud of him. He is currently getting ready to ship out to US Navy in November. He is so smart and was able to secure an amazing job! I cannot wait to see where his future takes him. My daughter is the absolute light of my life and my best friend. She will be 14 this year but for the first 3 years of her life I was a stay-at-home dad while I went to school. It gave me the opportunity to spend quality time with her. She is so cool and hilarious and smart and makes me so proud.

I have an incredible family. My wife and I have been together for 20 years and she is my biggest support. Anybody who has ever spent any time with me knows that Krisy is usually there as my “ emotional support person”. We love road trips. We love spending time with our friends and hanging out with our family.

I am absolutely a geek. I love anything cars, tech, astrophysics, math. I absolutely love to educate. That is a thread that is so prevalent in all of my interests. If I like something I will learn everything about it and teach it if I can. That has served me really well in the this space and in my career. 

Things most people don’t know about me and would be surprised to know is that I am chronically socially awkward. Despite my online persona, I am actually incredibly shy. A lot of times this can come off as standoffish and I worry that people will think I’m a dick. I absolutely love when people approach me to have a conversation, but I often wonder if they think I’m a weirdo. Being genuinely me is absolutely all that I know how to be. I don’t know how to fake that. Sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s bad, but it’s always real.

Where do I begin?

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year-old French pr******te named Chloe with webbed feet.

My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes, he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring, we’d make meat helmets.

When I was insolent, I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds – pretty standard, really. At the age of twelve, I received my first scribe.

At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. At the age of 18, I went off to evil medical school. At the age of 25, I took up tap dancing. I wanted to be a quadruple threat — an actor, dancer… alright, that’s all the time we have.

This weekend we spent some time with family and come to find out they are holding an old Haig and Haig blended scotch whisky from around the 1930’s. It’s been in a NY basement and never in direct sunlight, completely sealed. Also an old Bacardi…

What can you even do with this? It’s been sitting in a bottle for 90+ years.

Have you ever had a Swiss single malt whisky? No?

This is from Switzerland. They have a range of expressions from peated, port, sherry, and amarone cask finishing. From what I have tried on these little samples, it is a unique profile that reminds me of a little Scottish and a little American.

Hopefully we will see more of these making the rounds. 😁
