Hello good people! You may have noticed that The Loveland Voice has been quiet for some time. Life has required my attention elsewhere, and the same has been true for our awesome volunteers who host our community conversations. But we haven't disappeared!

Please keep an eye out for community conversations in the near future. Investigative reporting and fact-checking takes a lot of time, and it should, because truth and accuracy are essential to good journalism that you can depend on to make your own mind up about the issues that impact you.

Right? Right.

All of that so say: More soon! Until then, here is an intriguing addition to next week's City Council agenda from Jacki Marsh The People's Mayor:

- Jessica Schneider, Editor

----

"Good Afternoon All, please add the following item to the Tuesday, 7/2, Agenda, under Council New Business.

Request for our Acting City Attorney to prepare Charter Amendments / Ballot Initiatives, for Council discussion and possible action, at the 8/6/24, City Council Meeting:
Create Term Limits for Mayor & Council Members of two, consecutive, Four Year Terms for all Elected Officials, reduce number of Council Members from current 8 Council Members to 6 Council Members; by having one Council Member elected from each of the four Wards and two Council Members elected at large. (Motion to approve Council discussion and possible approval at the 8/6/24 City Council Meeting)

Thank you,
Jacki"

It’s almost that time! Loveland City Council meets at 6 pm and the agenda is packed!

Curious about the surprise move of the Children’s Museum from Centerra South to Loveland Yards? Want to weigh in on decorum on Council? Do you support city funding to cover the cost of Councilors defending themselves in court? These are just a few of the items on tonight’s agenda.

The agenda packet and instructions for how to participate remotely or in person are here: https://cilovelandco.civicweb.net/document/460791/

P.S. Mark your calendars for an event at Kinston for an update re: Centerra South. (See image). Never a dull moment, eh?

Disabled, then Homeless?

What Happens When "The Village" Isn't Enough?

Excerpt: “Hey friends I am reaching out because I do need your support. I have lost my home and I have to relocate within 30 days.”
.. Surely my friend who is educated, disabled, and has advocated for herself and many others navigating housing and living with disabilities for many years couldn’t just… be made homeless?

There must be some kind of mistake."

We have two community needs we want to share!

Here is how to help (1 of 2): "Loveland and Northern Colorado friends: Due to circumstances beyond her control, a dear friend of the Do Good Crew is being forced to move from her home. It's always scary to have to move, but imagine unexpectedly, while being disabled and not financially secure.

We are going to do what we do best and come together as a community for her."

Do you have something you want to donate to the garage sale? Or do you want to volunteer to help organize? Please contact me and I will put you in touch with the folks organizing this awesome event.

Maybe you just want to shop for some hot deals knowing your purchase is helping a neighbor in need!

Dearest Do Gooders, a community member needs our help.

Due to circumstances beyond her control, a dear friend of the Do Good Crew is being forced to move from her home. It's always scary to have to move, but imagine unexpectedly, while being disabled and not financially secure. We are going to do what we do best and come together as a community for her.

This weekend Do Good Colorado is proud to host a garage sale for our friend. If you would like to help her pack, clean, prepare for the move, or if you have items to donate to the sale or want to volunteer please message us and we will send you the link to Sign Up Genius.

This was posted late last night, and I wanted to share again in case you missed it.

This is a paid post, meaning you need to subscribe or support The Loveland Voice on Substack or Patreon to access the full content.

It's been bugging me all day that I can't provide all that we do for free. Information should be accessible to all, right? We also have bills to pay, and "Behind the Voice," is an attempt to strike a balance between keeping The Loveland Voice free to all, and keeping the lights on.

That being said, I imagine you are trying to keep the lights on as well, and that doesn't mean you shouldn't have access to information we gather.

If you are unable to subscribe due to any circumstance, please send us a message and I will add you to the list. In exchange, I would appreciate if you share the post with your networks and support this work financially in the future if you are able.

Deal?

Knowledge is power! Have a powerful day.
