This is one of my assignments in my Psychology of Play class.
Quest 1 was creating a creative space. So I used Unreal Engine
Quest 2 was creating a weekly plan. Which just looked busy lol.

The 2 quests that I chose this week were Creative Space and the Weekly Plan.

For the creative space I decided to keep it game themed and use Unreal Engine to develop my space. I was able to find a few free assets and a pool table for a couple bucks. In this space it shows what I would like my office to look like in the future. I have a small section to entertain guests. I like playing pool, so I included a nice little table. Shooting some pool is a nice way to not only let off steam but also to get those creative juices flowing. On my desk you will see multiple screens and a laptop. This portrays my office as it sits now. I use 3 screens with my desktop, and I usually have a laptop in arms reach.

The Weekly Plan was interesting to do. I do a lot more than 3 things in a day. It was interesting to see what my week looks like in its most stripped-down version. I work a hybrid job, so this is when I do my schoolwork. The baby usually wakes up between 12-1pm. So, If I am home, I stop my work / schoolwork and transition into father mode until around 4 when his mother takes over. If I am working in the field, I usually come home around 2-4pm and then I’ll take over with the baby. My daughters and I all go on a walk around 9-10pm every night.

I would also like to note that if I am home, I also work on my huge honey-do list. Right now, I'm staining our deck and waterproofing it under it as well as building a solar unit in my barn that will push my pool pump and digging trenches for outlets that will go around my deck from the solar shed. I am a carpenter, so I love it when I get the chance to build stuff. I will throw some music on and get lost in a project. My firepit project is on my list that will be coming soon. I’m really going to enjoy creating it. I must rent a bobcat to level the land first. After that's finished, I am creating a Mickey Mouse / Disney themed fire pit.

The 2 concepts I’ll be choosing are Time Batching and Play Personalities. Both Play Personalities and Time batching are a must with my fast-paced life. When it comes to time, I had to not only learn how to manage it, but I also had to learn how to squeeze every minute, every second, every extra drop of time. I have four children. I have one in college, one in Highschool that graduates in a couple of weeks, one in the 7th grade, and my only son Jaxson, who just turned one. We don’t believe in daycare. There are far too many odd people in this world. So, because of this we do split shifts. My shift is 6am-10pm. My wife's shift is 3pm-6am. By doing this we eliminate the need for a babysitter. This also has taught us to use our time wisely. My 7th grader is also in competitive dancing. She practices 5 days a week 3-4 hrs a day. So, by keeping our schedules so tight we have taught my daughter how to run a super tight ship. She goes to school in the morning and comes home at 3pm. She then must change, eat, and somehow do her homework all before having to be at dance at 4:30pm. She does this by doing her work on the bus or in the car. She also does homework in class if she's done with everything.

When it comes to Play Personalities, well, I am a dad. I am a man of many faces and a man who wears many different hats. At any given time, I must use a different personality. We can start at the top. I am a Collector. I probably have car stuff from my Camaro 12 years ago still. I have a shed full of plumbing, electrical, wood, computer parts, and lots of tools. I am a creator/artist. Since I have 4 children, I am always having to come up with new ideas not only for them but for work and for my own creations including YouTube. As a father, I am a director. I must direct and guide my children to greatness. Although some lessons are better learned by example or by them learning the hard way. We love going hiking and I just bought my first boat. My children love it when I’m an Explorer and we go off the beating path. We love taking the road less traveled. With my dad jokes I am definitely a practical joker, but I am also a storyteller. Or as my children say, the guy that talks too much.

These quests have inspired me to learn more about map creation in Unreal Engine. I am also printing off a blank copy of the weekly plan and having my kids all do one. My daughter, who graduates this year, will be starting college this year. It will be necessary for her to have good time management.
