The serpent's kiss, a sugared lie,
A fleeting warmth that chills the eye.
A whispered promise, sweet and sly,
It lures the lost, with tearful sigh.

The needle's bite, a hollow friend,
Numbs the world, until the very end.
A twisted comfort, that knows no bend,
A master's grip, that will not mend.

The pill's embrace, a stolen dream,
A painted smile, a vacant gleam.
A shadowed dance, a broken scream,
A stolen life, a shattered scheme.

The craving calls, a hungry beast,
A hollow ache, that knows no least.
It steals the soul, corrupts the feast,
Leaving only echoes, of a life deceased.

But hope remains, a flickering spark,
A strength within, to leave the dark.
With steady hands, to break the stark,
And find the light, that leaves its mark.
