Here's a forward from Geoff Storts concerning our meeting about the film tax incentives last night at the High Horse. I would encourage all those in the Kentucky film industry to accept this call to action.

Last night, a group of more than 30 filmmakers got together to talk about what needs to be done for the film tax incentives in Kentucky. If you're receiving this email, it's because we need your help moving forward!
Here are the main takeaways from the Below the Line meeting:
Kentucky's enhanced tax incentive began in 2015. Since then each of us can probably personally attest to the major increase in work.
Last session the credit was changed to “non-refundable.” This is the main difference that has negatively affected our industry. In order to make it beneficial for Productions to be interested in Kentucky, we need to make it REFUNDABLE again!
PLEASE visit https://belowthelineky.com/ for detailed step by step instructions on how to contact your legislators. Be sure to refrain from “film lingo." Legislators probably don't understand exactly what we do, but our local labor force is a massive selling point. WE are that local labor.
While some may have ideas about what should change, our focus needs to be singular. Our numbers need to make an impact. 2020 is a budget year, so we ACTUALLY STAND A CHANCE right now.
REMEMBER:
- Keep it simple
- Keep it concise (no film lingo)
- Make it REFUNDABLE
We need to raise the noise and let Frankfort know that our film industry is important and one simple adjustment will actually hugely benefit our community and state.
