LOUISBURG — On Tuesday, April 18 at 11:59 a.m. Louisburg Police officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at Food Lion.

Responding Officers located an elderly female with injuries in the parking lot. She was treated at the scene and transported to WakeMed.

Further investigation revealed that a driver, Anna Grace Adams, was backing out of a parking space and stuck the pedestrian. Adams was initially charged with an unsafe movement violation.

The victim passed away at WakeMed and the charges against Adams were upgraded to include misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

The magistrate released Adams on a written promise to appear for the additional charge.

Scott Strickland with the Bunn Cert Lion's Club asked commissioners to continue any support they could offer to the group focused on improving its community.
One of their next projects is providing less fortunate kids with opportunities to get eye exams.
"We still need funds to help support these kids who don't have money for glasses," Strickland told commissioners.

LOUISBURG — An Oxford man faces drug-related and other charges after fleeing traffic stop.

Cpl. Lariviere, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, pulled over Malik Williams, Oxford, Tuesday, April 18, in Franklinton. After several minutes, Williams fled the traffic stop in his vehicle. Cpl. Larivier pursued Williams to West River Road near T. Kemp Road.

Williams was charged with felony flee/elude, simple possess schedule VI, simple possess schedule II, and other driving related charges.

Williams is being held at the Franklin County Jail under a $55,000 secured bond.

She has served in numerous roles and positions during her law enforcement career inlcuding Criminal Investigator for the Lake Royale Police Department. General Statement of Duties
An employee in this class performs all activities associated with the performance of a utility billing program. This includes utilizing the computer and loading/downloading computer meter readings, preparing utility billing, checking for quality control, and mailing bills. Work includes dealing with the public on requests for services, taking payments and balancing deposits, and writing work orders. Work involves establishing computer and hard copies records and files, entering data, and generating varied reports from the billing system. The employee is expected to have thorough understanding of the process to handle most situations in the process. Work assignments are performed in accordance with established procedures with unusual situations being referred to the Utilities Business Manager for guidance. Some judgment is required in determining billing adjustments and payment requirements. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Utilities Business Manager and is evaluated through observation, work completion, conferences and periodic review of reports.�
Duties and Responsibilities/Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Performs all activities associated with the performance of a complete utility billing program; utilizes computer for entering applicant information; loads and unloads meter reads from handheld computer; assists in the preparation of utility bills; checks for quality control. Assist public; provides applications for services and assures they are completed correctly and completely; accepts payments for service; explains services, fees, penalties and late payment policies, etc.�Enters cash collection into billing system; closes cash collection batches; generates cash collection reports and revenue sheets.�Prepares and maintains an account for each customer.� Receives account draft requests from customers; prepares necessary draft forms and sends to bank.�Calculates usage for billing, calculates adjustments to accounts as necessary; prints billing register, edits for errors.�Sets up customers on correct routes for meter readers; loads handheld meter readers; downloads and posts meter readings to customer accounts by computer.�Posts customer payments, adjustments, and miscellaneous transactions to the customer accounts and any data changes needed.�Generates reports from meter readings, proofs, makes changes and analyzes for potential errors; requests re-reads; compiles recheck list and forwards to meter readers; balances and corrects errors as required.� Runs reports as scheduled on the daily/weekly/monthly calendar.� Receives and responds to requests and complaints of services.� Balances cash drawer against computer report; corrects data entry errors;.� Prepares turn-off list and work orders for service connections and to follow-up on complaints.� Answers the telephone; talks with customers about bills, payments, complaints or problems; provides information on services, fees, etc. and routes to appropriate staff as needed.� Performs related duties as required.��Physical Requirements��Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, pushing, fi*****ng, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.� Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift objects.��
Desirable Education and Experience
Graduation from high school and preferably supplemented by additional training and courses in accounting and computer operations, and some experience in water and sewer utility billing, clerical billing or accounting with significant public contact, data entry, and in an automated environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.�

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Pearces Road and PG Pearce Road in reference to a vehicle crash Saturday night, Feb. 25.

Upon arriving on the scene, the alleged driver, Darrion Atkinson, was found to have two outstanding warrants for arrest for domestic violence protective order violations out of Wake and Harnett Counties.

Sgt. Livesay took custody of Atkinson and transported him to Franklin County jail where he was placed on a domestic violence hold.
