Women's March Action is proud to march with the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights next week in Los Angeles on International Migrants Day, December 18th.

During the last few years, we have confronted the devastating consequences of the first Trump administration, which led to the fall of Roe v. Wade, threatening countless lives as reproductive care became out of reach for many. Undocumented women, in particular, have faced daunting barriers, living in fear of deportation while seeking essential care.

As we prepare to face a second Trump administration, we stand united in the fight ahead. Our immigrant communities—especially women and their families—will face even greater challenges from hateful, anti-immigrant policies.

But we will not back down. Together, we will protect our communities, resist hate, and defend our progress to keep families together, expand healthcare access, and create pathways to safety and opportunity! 🦋✊

For the first time in history, women will hold the majority on the Los Angeles City Council. This significant milestone follows the swearing-in of council-members Ysabel Jurado and Heather Hutt, who are also the first women and women of color elected to represent their respective council districts. 👏

The First Bro at all functions is creepy as hell! 👇🏽

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has arrived at Notre Dame Cathedral to attend the reopening ceremony.

He’s one of the VIP guests invited alongside some religious officials and world leaders, including President-elect Donald Trump.

More context: Musk has emerged as a key player in Trump’s orbit and has been tapped by the president-elect to co-lead the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency. Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, spent more than a quarter of a billion dollars to get Trump elected, CNN reported this week. CNN

Here's a brief recap of Women's March Action's recent trip to Washington, D.C. Our Founder and Executive Director, Emiliana Guereca, visited Capitol Hill and attended the 2024 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with Tamara Levenson, the Executive Director of the Grassroots Democrats HQ. 🎄❤️

This trip was a powerful reminder that our work continues, no matter the season. ✊

California will see a record-high 59 women serving in the next legislative session. And for the first time in state history, there will be more women than men in the state Senate.

Who are these women legislators?
🟣 47 Democrats
🟣 12 Republicans
🟣 68 percent are women of color
🟣 34 are representing Southern California
🟣 17 are representing Northern California
🟣 8 are representing the Central Valley

None of the world’s top 10 economies has reached gender parity in its legislature, but California — which ranks fifth, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis — is now the closest at 49 percent — according to the Center for American Women in Politics. The United Kingdom is the second closest with 40.5 percent women in its House of Commons.

Close the Gap is a nonprofit that recruits women to run for office. In 2012, California underwent a term limit reform which caused about 90 percent of legislative seats to open up between 2022 and 2028. Close the Gap seized an opportunity to target open and flippable districts. According to the organization, about 40 percent of the women who will serve this upcoming session were recruited by Close the Gap.

“If it wasn’t for Close the Gap approaching me and making me think that becoming a legislator was even possible for me, I don’t think I’d be here today,” Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, Assembly Majority Leader and incoming Women’s Caucus chair, said in a statement.

The organization said it recruits “accomplished, diverse and progressive women” and helps them launch competitive campaigns. Close the Gap has already spent a year working with women who are considering running in 2026 and will soon begin recruiting for the 2028 cycle.

“California women leaders authored vital legislation to protect freedoms and communities under attack during the first Trump presidency,” Susannah Delano, Close the Gap’s executive director, said in a statement. “The difference between then and now is that we have twice as many women in the Legislature in 2025, and I have no doubt you will see California women rise to the challenges ahead.”

A new report from the Center for American Women and Politics reveals that women are projected to make up nearly 50% of Colorado's lawmakers for the first time in history. This increase comes at the heels of a pivotal moment in history where women are poised to represent 33.2% of all state lawmakers nationwide in 2025.

A report published in September by the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice (Latina Institute) and other partner organizations exposed the severe barriers immigrant women- particularly those who are undocumented face in accessing reproductive care.

The report notes that nearly 1.9 million undocumented women live in states where abortion is banned, with many unable to travel out of state for care due to a lack of documentation, such as a driver's license, and the constant fear of deportation.

Now, in light of the 2024 election results, these barriers are expected to worsen under the new Trump administration, which plans to implement a national abortion ban and enforce mass deportation policies upon taking office.

As organizers and activists, we must continue fighting for reproductive freedom for all individuals regardless of their citizenship status. Reproductive rights are immigrant rights. ✊

Last week a judge who was appointed by Donald Trump stuck down one of President Biden’s pro-worker policies. The policy in question would have protected overtime benefits for around four million low income salaried workers.

The rule would raise the threshold for workers to qualify for extra pay hours beyond the 40 hour work week under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The current threshold is around $35,000. The rule would have raised it to $58,000.

The lawsuit combines two suits, one launched by Attorney General Ken Paxton and the other from a combination of business groups. One group in question gave over $500,000 to GOP candidates

Trump’s record on this issue is mixed. When the eligibility threshold was $23,000, President Obama raised it to around $47,000, but a court stuck that down. President Trump raised the threshold from $23,000 to $35,000.Repost from

🚨 Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is absolutely right—these Republican politicians are putting all women and girls at risk with their harmful bigotry and hatred. 🚨

Rep. Nancy Mace and Speaker Johnson are teaming up to move to ban transgender people from using their preferred bathrooms on Capitol grounds controlled by the House of Representatives.

This is dangerous, disgusting, and will inevitabley endanger all women and girls.
