Introducing Red & Co.

Introducing “Red & Co.” The songwriting side of the music has always felt like a team effort to me. Anytime songs I’ve written and arranged are brought to a band of creative musicians, the music is always more fully realized and better for it. I am always thrilled to see a production further take shape and be enhanced by the creativity and instincts of other talented musicians and engineers. I am also lucky to have found not only talented and like-minded music makers but good friends who care as much about the presentation and realization of the music as I do and who create a positive atmosphere around the music (both in recording and performance) that is fun to be around and a thrill to come back to time and time again.

Red & Co. is a celebration of music in a team setting. Music created by and for friends. Thank you to the many musicians who have contributed over the years to the songs and to those who may join in the fun in the years ahead. A special thanks and shout out to my band of brothers and friends who have now been a part of this ride for the better part of the last decade. We have something very special in the works that will be arriving this November 22nd. Can’t wait to share this project with you and hopefully many, many more to come…

“Beneath the same night sky, we are all connected.”

As an adult looking up into the night sky on a clear night away from city lights, we are reminded and humbled by our place in the greater cosmos. Our troubles and challenges begin to feel insignificant compared to the grandeur and beauty of the whole. When we were small, we would look up at the constellations with a sense of curiosity, awe and wonder. With the world itself already feeling big, we were aware that the vastness that met our eyes when looking up carried with it an even larger, more expansive world. Spaceships were the toys that led our imaginations to wonder what it might feel like to explore the galaxy, telescopes provided a lens through which we could get an even better glimpse of the wonders above us. As we grew up, we still continued to look to the stars with a sense of reverence. We’ve always done some our most honest reflecting and self-inquiry anytime we found ourselves with quality time to look above. No matter what we faced, we always felt a deeper sense of ease and a feeling of being at-homeness. We felt connected to something bigger than ourselves. In these experiences, we may not have always found answers but we certainly found peace.

“Constellations” is an homage to that sense of awe and wonder we felt as kids and still do today when looking up towards the night sky. It is also a love letter to those in our lives who shared with us for the first time, glimpses of that bigger picture and those who remind us of its existence still today. It is a tip of the cap to the little voice inside who looks above and knows he’s home, right where he’s meant to be in the grand beauty and unknowable mystery of it all.

“Constellations” is off of and completes the full album “Alive to a World We Knew.” Thank you for listening to the soundscapes and checking out the videos along the way. It has been a joy to create and share this music with you all. I hope it brought you back to the good memories of being a kid and the joyful enthusiasm, adventurous fun, immense possibility and playful creativity of our earlier years.

My new Redeco album “Alive to a World We Knew” is out today! Revisit the nostalgia of your earlier days. Includes previously unreleased tracks “Campfire” and “Constellations”. Thanks for listening!

My new album “Alive to a World We Knew” is officially out. The album includes previously unreleased tracks “Campfire” and “Constellations.”

As a kid anything was possible. The world was one great big playground meant for exploration and creative imagination. Every moment carried within it the possibility of fun. Every experience, be it with toys, bikes, sports, cartoons, the great outdoors was all fair game. There was nothing that the youthful imagination and creative lens through which we saw the world couldn’t shape into a magical, transformative and memorable adventure.

Through the arc of this album, each track aims to bring back to life the nostalgic memory of what it felt like to be a kid. To be alive in a world with our whole lives ahead of us, the fullness of childlike joy by our side, the spirit of adventure and the fullness of awe and wonder alive within us. Playful tracks give way to more reflective tracks over the course of the album as if our younger selves have eventually grown up, leaving our adult selves reflecting upon the memory of earlier days. The album takes the listener through a series of “sonic memories” bringing us back in touch with the kid inside us all.

It has been an absolute joy creating this album and revisiting that feeling of childhood and all the memories that accompany it. I hope too it brings you the listener that same joy as you revisit your own earlier days.

New nostalgic Redeco soundscape out today!
A celebration of the spirit of play 🌳

“It is a happy talent to know how to play.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

As kids we knew how to play and how to play well. We were effortlessly skilled in it. It carried us towards the heights of imagination and the depths of creative exploration. A sort of jungle gym for our mind and heart, play was what we lived for. Between morning and night, play filled the majority of our days bringing us joy, exhilaration and enthusiasm. It always provided a sunny sky, smile on our face and hop in our step. The promise of the day’s play had us sprinting out of bed, into the day’s clothes and bounding down the stairs to our next adventures. Play still lives within us and we carry within us that sense of play no matter where we go or how fast the years race along.

“Treehouse” celebrates the childlike joy and wonder of being a kid (and a kid at heart). Treehouses represent the creative nook we carved out as kids in a world we were still learning. A place all our own in which we could let our imagination and spirit run wild. The track is a celebration of the sense of play that informed us during our formative years and the same spirit which our inner kid forever yearns to stay in touch with throughout our lives.

“Treehouse” is the final single ahead of the release of the full album “Alive to a World We Knew” which releases May 17th.

New Redeco music video for my latest nostalgic soundscape “Saturday Rain”… ☔️

New Redeco soundscape! ☔️

New Redeco soundscape! ☔️

It’s Saturday morning. It’s raining outside. You’re a kid. Today’s play and creativity is inside…

As kids our imaginations were limitless, our sense of play was boundless. There always remained before us an infinite amount of possibility. We could take the simplest of things and turn them into great fun. We could gather up toy Hot Wheel cars and put on a race around the living room floor that would rival the Daytona 500. We could gather up the latest McDonald’s happy meal toys and create a character drama fit for prime time television. We could take a bunch of cardboard boxes and create castles the likes of which the Medieval period never even dreamt up. We could roll dice and in our mind’s eye watch the most thrilling baseball game you ever did see play out while recording it on a toy tape recorder with your brother as announcers to all those tuning in from around the world. We could turn tricycles into Batmobiles, string into Indiana Jones-like escape bridges and pots and pans into rock concerts that would leave the Muppet’s “Animal” and John Bonham jealous of our gear and chops. There was nothing our minds couldn’t conjure up and no limit to the fun that could be had- even from the comfort of only the indoors.

As adults sometimes we lose that sense of play and way of seeing the world as one big ole playground. Sometimes we remember and hang on to that part within ourselves and the fullness of that joyful innocence returns. “Saturday Rain” is a tip of the cap to that sense of play that we carried within us and the creative lens through which we looked at the world with younger eyes. So turn on the Saturday morning cartoons, finish up your bowl of Lucky Charms and get down to good ole fun because it’s raining out and the only thing left to do is play inside…

“Saturday Rain” is off of the forthcoming album “Alive to a World We Knew” which releases on May 17th.

Reflective music video for my newest Redeco soundscape “Amongst Leaves” 🍁

New Redeco Reflective Soundscape 🍁

Every Fall the leaves turn color, take to the air, land, gather together into piles creating new temporary playgrounds. The air gets brisker, the coats slightly thicker. The ushering in of Fall always brings with it the feeling that change is in the air, ever palpable, resonant, alive. Fall always strikes me as a season of transition, a season of reflection, reflection upon what’s come before, what lies ahead. Reflection upon the person inside who has experienced the changes of life’s seasons and as a result inevitably has grown and changed along the way. Fall has always been very atmospheric to me, an invitation to get quieter inside and to commune more deeply with one’s changing environment, to become witness to the activity and motion of life surrounding us and to know ourselves and our place in the world more deeply. As a season, it’s like that warm pumpkin spice latte we look forward to each year that accompanies us, providing comfort and good feelings. “Amongst Leaves” aims to express that inner season of Fall in each of us. Not the mourning of something past but the welcome embrace of not only what’s to come but where we presently are. Fall always provides a backdrop encouraging reflection, space and peace. As the years move forward, so too do our inner lives.

“Amongst Leaves” out now is part of the upcoming album “Alive to a World We Knew” which releases May 17.

In celebration of a new baseball season, here is my latest Redeco music video soundscape. “Under the Lights” recreates the feeling of being a kid on a ball field and bringing to life the nostalgia for the game we love. Happy MLB Opening Day all!

New Redeco baseball soundscape! ⚾️

New Redeco baseball soundscape! ⚾️

Step back onto the fields of youth and relive the thrill of the game of baseball.

As a kid growing up, baseball was a part of my life every summer. There was an accompanying thrill that came with the fresh, cool air of every Spring when you dust off the ole mitt and warm up the ole arm playing catch with your brother and Dad in the backyard. The camaraderie of fellow teammates that become brothers over the hours of practice and game days across a season. The lessons learned as you grew both as a player and teammate. The magic and wonder of playing under the lights on any given summer weeknight when the local town came out to cheer on their team. If you grew up playing the game, had kids that did or became a fan, you recognize just how much baseball becomes a part of life. The thrill of a new season, the promise of potential future glory, the highs, the lows but most importantly the communal aspect. We all gather in the stadiums and around the fields of the game to come together and share a shared passion. We come together to share time with friends and family around a game we love and that has become part of the fabric of our being. We revel in its stories, its legacy. Many of life’s early lessons came through this game for me and today as a fan the game continues to provide the same thrills that the sandlots of youth did so many years ago.

Cheers to a new baseball season all. May your favorite team’s inspire new highs and may this track bring you back to the good ole days when weather turned warm again, the sun went down, the lights came up, the grass was freshly cut, the sidelines freshly lined with chalk and the promise of a good time whether in between the lines or on the other side filled the air with excitement. “Under the Lights” weaves together an homage to the classic “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” with sounds of the game in a nostalgic soundscape of what it felt like growing up as a kid on the baseball field.

New Redeco track out today! A reflective look back at the experiences of our past and one of the darker/edgier tracks on the forthcoming record… 🎃 👻 🎶

Some experiences never leave us. “Old Haunts” is a reflective soundscape that remembers and revisits the forgotten but familiar past, it’s places and experiences and how they shaped who we are today. Revisit the ghost of the memories that still live within us. “Old Haunts” is out today.

My upcoming album “Alive to a World We Knew” is comprised primarily of two types of tracks. 1) tracks that joyfully remember and look back to the highlights of earlier days of youth through a sense of playfulness as if you were still in those shoes remembering what it felt like to be a kid and 2) tracks that are more reflective in nature still looking back but from an older, wiser, more experienced vantage point. The entire arc of our lives is one of beauty because of the totality of it’s fullness, full of highs, lows, healthy challenges, and delightful surprises. Whether they are felt as a positive or negative experience in the moment of living them, it may not always be clear then that they are a defining moment. A moment we will later look back to with appreciation for having lived it and having gained the experience and lessons from it.

In a way this track is a bittersweet look, a hauntingly beautiful look at the fullness of the human experience (both light and dark). It asks us to revisit both the beautiful and dark places. It asks us to revisit the places suprisingly still so familiar that have only been forgotten about through time. The places and memories that, in an instant, once we revisit in our mind’s eye, we find are still very much alive within us and come to recognize they have helped shape the very core of who we are today.

Musically, I’ve always been a fan of Olafur Arnalds and Sigur Ros and enjoyed incorporating those aesthetics into this track. This is both a “pretty” track musically and perhaps one of the more “dark and edgier” tracks on the record. I hope you enjoy it.

New Redeco electronic soundscape out today!

Imagine it’s summertime. It stays light for what feels like forever through the evening. The lake is full of adventure and ambiance. The picnics are lively and joyful. The watermelon is refreshing. The campfire after sunset is cozy. There’s wonder and awe in the air. You’re a kid again and the spirit of play is alive and well. No school, only fun. Three months of infinite possibility, boundless joy and good fun. Freedom, play and adventure await each and every day…

“Fireflies” is an homage to the memory of those summers from our childhood. They carry with us some of our warmest memories and keep alive within us that spirit of adventure and play. A same spirit that if we choose to tap back into, will find still very much exists in our inner life. Musically it’s an electronic groove, a celebration. Hope you enjoy “Fireflies.”

“Fireflies” is off of the forthcoming Redeco album “Alive to a World We Knew” exploring nostalgic youth through sonic memories coming this May.

New Redeco album announcement and track!
🚂 🚂

Thrilled to announce that the next Redeco album is wrapped. LP2 “Alive to a World We Knew” centers around nostalgic youth (those moments growing up through childhood into early adulthood that still live within us, memories that made a lasting impression upon us, informing both our sense of self and worldview along the way). This sense of fondness for earlier days and nostalgia around our earlier experiences is brought to life through each track, each “sonic memory.” It is an album about exploring and remembering the kid inside us all and the playground of life we used to know so well.

To kick off the journey, thrilled to share with you “Train Tracks.” It was created as a sort of meditative/reflective journey, a journey into the days of early adulthood, a journey of growth into the “next chapter” whatever that next life chapter may be (whether known or remaining a great unknown patiently revealing itself in time).

I’ve always been taken with trains (as a kid with model trains, as an adult seeing tracks as a way of being transported somewhere else, an adventure forward). I remember visiting friends deeper into Queens NY sometime just beyond undergrad college days. You’d cross a bridge over what felt like a rustic film set where the tracks went through a woodsy area. That location and space always felt alive to me. It always felt symbolic of growth and momentum. There’s something powerful about a sense of forward movement in life. There are certain experiences where we feel it most, a real turning point or new season in life. That’s what this one is all about. With the music, I had a blast creating the sound of the engine propelling the listener forward as the driving center and heartbeat of the soundscape. Hope you enjoy it. Looking forward to sharing with you the album over the coming months ahead. I had a blast creating these with you the listener and the listening experience in mind. An adventure begins!
