Thank you all for taking the time to listen to our newest live album. It was a super fun session for us as a band to play through many of our favorite tunes and we are always thrilled to share the music with you. This project was a celebration of many of our earlier songs, ones that still ring true. A lot goes into creating these projects and the moment of sharing is always most looked forward to. We hope you have as much fun listening to the tunes as we did recording them. Thanks as always for listening and we look forward to playing future live shows and creating new music down the road. Have a wonderful holiday season ahead.

The new album “Rivington ‘23” is available across all streaming platforms.

Happy release day! Thrilled to celebrate and share with you our live album “Rivington ‘23” out now on all platforms. It was a thrill getting the band together for this session a summer ago in NYC and revisiting some of our favorite tunes from over the years.

Music takes many forms and one of my favorites will always be the live dynamic and energy that happens in an improvised setting between a group of musicians, be it onstage or in the studio. I had been wanting to revisit some of the earlier songs with the aim of realizing updated versions that reflect the way they’ve evolved over the years onstage. It was a joy revisiting these songs and capturing them organically “in the moment” by tracking them live in-studio as a full band (for us, the first experience doing so in a studio setting).

The songs still feel as relevant today as when they were written (some now 15 years ago). It was an absolute blast to see everyone’s musicianship give these new life. It was also great to record once again in a studio that had become a creative home for us over the years.

Music at its best is all about community. And I’m thrilled that I get to make music with such a great group of friends and for you, our community. My sincerest thanks goes out to all who helped realize this project. I hope you enjoy the tunes, performances and recordings. Thanks as always for listening.

Rivington ‘23 Tracklist

Featuring songs from all four of our previous studio album releases “New Life” (2011), “Nearby Places” (2014), “True North” (2019) and “Night Owls” (2022). It was a blast revisiting some of our favorite songs to play as a band from over the years, especially many of the earlier songs that were first written and recorded now 15 years ago. Songs have a way of evolving over time and it’s always a blast finding new ways of realizing familiar material. I had been wanting to revisit and reimagine some of the earlier tracks with the band in a more modern and organic way. In revisiting these, I’ve found that many still remain relevant to today. When you’re younger and just writing you’re not thinking about how a certain song may resonate years down the line. Many of those earlier songs still very much resonate for me as an artist and I hope for you as a listener. It was a joy to bring these back to the band and reinvigorate them with fresh energy, musicianship and enthusiasm.

Rivington ‘23 arrives this Friday 11.22.24.

Rivington ‘23 | Behind the Scenes

The live in-studio album “Rivington ‘23” arrives this Friday. Featuring 12 tracks of reimagined favorites from over the years presented as “live, in the moment” versions. Love what this band creates on stage together and wanted to capture that vibe in a studio setting. The album was recorded as a series of one-takes during an evening session in NYC last summer. I’ve always enjoyed the spirit and experience of musicians listening to each other in performance and the interplay that results in an improvised setting. Looking forward to sharing this project with you.

Excited to announce that one week from today my band Red & Co. releases its album “Rivington ‘23”. The album is comprised of live takes from a session we recorded at Rivington 66 Studio in the Lower East Side in NYC during the summer of last year. The studio was a creative home for us for so many years and it was great getting a chance to record there again. This time tracking all together as a band, live in studio.

Living in LA the last three plus years now, it has always been a priority visiting the East Coast and NYC once a year with the aim of visiting family/friends, reconnecting with the band and making music. One year earlier saw us playing a live set at the Bitter End in the village for an album release show. I loved the raw, dynamic energy of that show and the recording that resulted and wanted to create another opportunity for the band to record ourselves in a “live” setting playing tunes from over the years in a raw, organic, “in the moment” way. It was a super fun session and thrilled to share with you the tracks that came from it. It captures the spirit and energy of our live shows. Four good friends and talented musicians improvising together around some of our most favorite songs from over the years.

Can’t wait to share the album with you next week…

Introducing Red & Co.

Introducing “Red & Co.” The songwriting side of the music has always felt like a team effort to me. Anytime songs I’ve written and arranged are brought to a band of creative musicians, the music is always more fully realized and better for it. I am always thrilled to see a production further take shape and be enhanced by the creativity and instincts of other talented musicians and engineers. I am also lucky to have found not only talented and like-minded music makers but good friends who care as much about the presentation and realization of the music as I do and who create a positive atmosphere around the music (both in recording and performance) that is fun to be around and a thrill to come back to time and time again.

Red & Co. is a celebration of music in a team setting. Music created by and for friends. Thank you to the many musicians who have contributed over the years to the songs and to those who may join in the fun in the years ahead. A special thanks and shout out to my band of brothers and friends who have now been a part of this ride for the better part of the last decade. We have something very special in the works that will be arriving this November 22nd. Can’t wait to share this project with you and hopefully many, many more to come…

“Beneath the same night sky, we are all connected.”

As an adult looking up into the night sky on a clear night away from city lights, we are reminded and humbled by our place in the greater cosmos. Our troubles and challenges begin to feel insignificant compared to the grandeur and beauty of the whole. When we were small, we would look up at the constellations with a sense of curiosity, awe and wonder. With the world itself already feeling big, we were aware that the vastness that met our eyes when looking up carried with it an even larger, more expansive world. Spaceships were the toys that led our imaginations to wonder what it might feel like to explore the galaxy, telescopes provided a lens through which we could get an even better glimpse of the wonders above us. As we grew up, we still continued to look to the stars with a sense of reverence. We’ve always done some our most honest reflecting and self-inquiry anytime we found ourselves with quality time to look above. No matter what we faced, we always felt a deeper sense of ease and a feeling of being at-homeness. We felt connected to something bigger than ourselves. In these experiences, we may not have always found answers but we certainly found peace.

“Constellations” is an homage to that sense of awe and wonder we felt as kids and still do today when looking up towards the night sky. It is also a love letter to those in our lives who shared with us for the first time, glimpses of that bigger picture and those who remind us of its existence still today. It is a tip of the cap to the little voice inside who looks above and knows he’s home, right where he’s meant to be in the grand beauty and unknowable mystery of it all.

“Constellations” is off of and completes the full album “Alive to a World We Knew.” Thank you for listening to the soundscapes and checking out the videos along the way. It has been a joy to create and share this music with you all. I hope it brought you back to the good memories of being a kid and the joyful enthusiasm, adventurous fun, immense possibility and playful creativity of our earlier years.

My new Redeco album “Alive to a World We Knew” is out today! Revisit the nostalgia of your earlier days. Includes previously unreleased tracks “Campfire” and “Constellations”. Thanks for listening!

My new album “Alive to a World We Knew” is officially out. The album includes previously unreleased tracks “Campfire” and “Constellations.”

As a kid anything was possible. The world was one great big playground meant for exploration and creative imagination. Every moment carried within it the possibility of fun. Every experience, be it with toys, bikes, sports, cartoons, the great outdoors was all fair game. There was nothing that the youthful imagination and creative lens through which we saw the world couldn’t shape into a magical, transformative and memorable adventure.

Through the arc of this album, each track aims to bring back to life the nostalgic memory of what it felt like to be a kid. To be alive in a world with our whole lives ahead of us, the fullness of childlike joy by our side, the spirit of adventure and the fullness of awe and wonder alive within us. Playful tracks give way to more reflective tracks over the course of the album as if our younger selves have eventually grown up, leaving our adult selves reflecting upon the memory of earlier days. The album takes the listener through a series of “sonic memories” bringing us back in touch with the kid inside us all.

It has been an absolute joy creating this album and revisiting that feeling of childhood and all the memories that accompany it. I hope too it brings you the listener that same joy as you revisit your own earlier days.

New nostalgic Redeco soundscape out today!
A celebration of the spirit of play 🌳

“It is a happy talent to know how to play.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

As kids we knew how to play and how to play well. We were effortlessly skilled in it. It carried us towards the heights of imagination and the depths of creative exploration. A sort of jungle gym for our mind and heart, play was what we lived for. Between morning and night, play filled the majority of our days bringing us joy, exhilaration and enthusiasm. It always provided a sunny sky, smile on our face and hop in our step. The promise of the day’s play had us sprinting out of bed, into the day’s clothes and bounding down the stairs to our next adventures. Play still lives within us and we carry within us that sense of play no matter where we go or how fast the years race along.

“Treehouse” celebrates the childlike joy and wonder of being a kid (and a kid at heart). Treehouses represent the creative nook we carved out as kids in a world we were still learning. A place all our own in which we could let our imagination and spirit run wild. The track is a celebration of the sense of play that informed us during our formative years and the same spirit which our inner kid forever yearns to stay in touch with throughout our lives.

“Treehouse” is the final single ahead of the release of the full album “Alive to a World We Knew” which releases May 17th.
