Some SAMPLE CLONE clips from some videos I am filming for VESNA, an Organization for women refugees in the Czech Republic. There is a bunch of stuff inbetween each clip but these are just cutaways. Not finished- still coloring and editing.
🎬🇨🇿 Czechia will be the filming location of the highly-anticipated U.S. Blade Runner 2099, a sequel to the iconic sci-fi films Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049, the Czech Film Commission (CFK) has announced.
The series will be filmed in Prague’s Barrandov Studios and will likely leave a significant economic impact on the country’s film-production industry.

24 Dorsey Studios obtained the option for this script and we completed the contract this weekend! We're excited to work with this Writer. I love his script.
It was great to work with Orlando Paz (Olan Paz) on his Artist streaming series "Paz to Paint" Pilot this month. He also has a Feature film in the works about Asians. Possibly another up and coming Director like John Chu in the making. See you on set Olan for Principle photography!

Filming a story about an Artist...
The client wanted a 1940's feel...as he says it is his style. So I went with a lighting setup inspired by what Cinematographers Martin Ahlgren used in "The Plot Against America" , Jack Cardiff's 1947 version of "Black Narcissus", & Robert Yeoman's "The Royal Tenenbaums".
Because the location we had to shoot in had one entire wall of glass with the harsh piercing sun coming in, it would be a challenge. I called for a later shoot time, and we worked till late that night.
Back tomorrow to finish filming the episode.

“A CONVERSATION ABOUT PERCEIVED VALUE:
A customer asked a contractor friend of mine how much it would cost to do this project.
My friend gave him a proposal: $4500
The customer responded: That’s seems really high.
My friend asked: What do you think is a reasonable price for this job?
The customer answered: $2500 maximum
My friend responded: Ok, then I invite you to do it yourself.
The customer answered: I don't know how to.
My friend responded: Alright, then how about for $2500 I'll teach you how to. So besides saving you $2000, you'll learn valuable skills that will benefit you in the future.
The customer answered: Sounds good! Let’s do it!
My friend responded: Great! To get started, you are going to need some tools. You will need a chop saw, table saw, cordless drill, bit set, router, skill saw, jig saw, tool belt, hammer, etc..
The customer answered: But I don't have any of those tools and I can't justify buying all of these for one job.
My friend responded: Ok. Well then for an additional $300 I can rent my tools to you to use for this project.
The customer answered: Okay. That’s fair.
My friend responded: Great! We will start the project on Monday.
The customer answered: I work Monday through Friday. I’m only available on the weekends.
My friend responded: If you want to learn from me then you will need to work when I work. This project will take 3 days so you will need to take 3 days off work.
The customer answered: That means I’m going to have to sacrifice my pay for 3 days or use my vacation time!
My friend responded: That’s true. Remember, when you do a job yourself you need to account for unproductive factors.
The customer answered: What do you mean by that?
My friend responded: Doing a job completely from start to finish includes time spent to plan the project, pick up materials, travel time, gas, set up time, clean up, and waste disposal amongst other things. That’s all in addition to the actual project itself. And speaking of materials, that’s where we will start on Monday so I need you to meet me at the lumberyard at 6:00am.
The customer answered: At 6am?!! My work day doesn’t usually start until 8am!
My friend responded: Well then you’re in luck! My plan is to start on the deck build by 8am. But to do so we have to start at 6am to get materials picked up, loaded and delivered to your job site.
The customer answered: You know, I’m realizing that a lot more goes in to a job than what a customer sees in the finished project. Your proposal of $4500 is very reasonable. I would like you to handle the project.
CONCLUSION:
When you pay for a job, especially a custom job, (whether it’s a physical project or digital project) you pay not only for the material and the work to be completed. You also pay for:

I love a lot of cameras, Sony, Alexa, etc... but seem to have an affinity for Blackmagic. I have the trio. BMPCC, BMPCC4K, BMPCC6K. Maybe one day I'll add the URSA? 🤷🏽♀️ #femalefilmmakerfriday

Re: lighting. This was a different lighting setup than the other scene. In this version the key light is off set, diagonal. In the other version, the candles are on the subject's Rt side and they become the key light. In this one, when she gulps the wine, kind of like real "fed up" with her life, the key light would catch and flash her eyelight, and the crown. Actors know at impactful moments to turn their heads and look or lean into the key light for certain actions (she's not an actress but she grew up in her aunt's theater so she was always around actors.) I used a stained glass 3200K lightbulb (Yes, they have such things!) for the practical lamp behind her on the left of this image. Which I did not like that bulb so much, it kind of messed with my color temperatures. Her backlight consisted of two things, the reflection from the candles in the glass, and two small low impact lights were inside the china cabinet. A bounce was also on the fill side of the subject.
More footage. I was playing with colors. I ran the footage by a friend who is in Germany, Leigh, who films for BBC and Nat Geo, and he says he thinks the last scene is powerful because it tells a lot about the character because of her expression, the power angle, and the eyelight (which is hard to see on the phone video), but is what they call "smart light." Here is a short clip with audio that goes with those screenshots I posted yesterday from the project entitled "Bounty", about a woman who goes rogue and is on the run from the Law, until she is trapped. I utilized several lighting set ups, and of course the Police light that I created out of a box fan I mentioned before. This was a 6 light set up design. It was great to see some of my old Cinematograpy buddies from ASC Masterclasses dug it on Instagram. Their opinion means a lot to me cause I really respect those guys and girls. (Of course Facebook really compresses videos.) I was going for the character in shadow but wanted her body and the gun to be outlined in light. Could have used more of it on the gun though.
I had to come up wirh a way to create Police lights for something I am filming with limited access to supplies for this person. I created flashing lights to go outside the window using tubes and a typical house box fan, and reflectors. It was pretty effective in a night scene. *UseWhatYouHave #ThinkOutsideTheBox
