A new study involving Philadelphia-area jazz guitarists, has explored the brain processes that enable creative flow. The research reveals that achieving flow requires a solid foundation of expertise, after which one must learn to relax conscious control to allow creativity to flourish.

By measuring brain activity and performance quality during improvisation, the study shows that experienced musicians entering flow exhibit less frontal lobe activity, which is associated with executive functions, and more in sensory processing areas.
These findings suggest that mastering and then mentally releasing one’s craft is key to achieving the high creativity and productivity associated with flow states.

The Chinese New Year (新年) is also known as the Spring Festival (春节). It is the most solemn festival of the year for every Chinese and has been celebrated in China for thousands of years, with various forms of activities among the diverse regions of China.

The New Year celebration is centred around removing the bad and the old, and welcoming the new and the good. It's a time to worship ancestors, exorcise evil spirits and pray for good harvest.

Today it's celebrated also by Chinese communities outside the country. Lion dance, dragon dance, temple fairs, flower market shopping and so on are just a few of these rich and colourful activities.

In the run-up to the new year people will clean their houses to get rid of dirt, rubbish and other unwanted items. They will redecorate them with red couplets, lanterns, new flowerpots and furniture, and will shop for foodstuffs for banquet specialities.

What happens during Chinese New Year? The Newham Chinese Association explain some of the traditions, festivals and customs that take place when Chinese New Year is celebrated.

This post is dedicated to all AI users, who erroneously believe AI has made them “Artists” overnight. (Spoiner alert - not possible)

We offer a brief and very simplified definitions of limited fields of visual art ART. The list is not exhaustive - music, film, performance, art, theater, ballet, etc. are not included here.

🔆 DRAWING is ART - it takes TALENT- it takes months, if not years for an artist to develop artistic skills of the drawing and perfect their unique style..

🔆 PAINTING is ART- it takes a long time for a TALENTED artist to become good at learning the type of painting they do whether it’s watercolor or oil, etc.

🔆 SCULPTURE is ART - it is a very difficult art form, which requires A talented artist to study the human and other forms to presenting them study the materials present them in clay , bronze or marble. It takes a very long time to create one - months sometimes years.

🔆 PHOTOGRAPHY is ART – it takes artistic skills, talent , knowledge , training for photography to learn how to use even the digital cameras nowadays you know to create the fact that they believe, they need.

🔆 DIGITAL ART is ART – Although more often used for designer work called artwork - it is a skill to use different graphic method on the computer starting from Adobe illustrator, Adobe, Photoshop and all the derivative software in order to create an image that is unique and conveys a certain message.

In the above brief definitions there is nowhere where you can see:”Any ripped rip off any image from the Internet or image generated from a copied prompt on Midjourney and call it In Art… “

AI is a TOOL FOR FOR RESPONSIBLE ARTSTS, DESIGNERS , ARCHITECTS, COMPOSERS, ANIMATORS, FILM MAKERS - NOT FOR CON-ARTISTS.

So, Mr/Ms WannaBe Digital “creator” - if you haven’t understood this so far, go please hurry back to school. There is much to learn.

Early this January 5th morning as I was checking Facebook - I came across a lot of these images. They are all fake. None of them were either aesthetic, nor true. Obviously being a professional sculptuor and a designer I am interested in art posts of this nature - immediately realized that all the statements and all these posts were completely fake.

I love artificial intelligence capabilities- every one has to learn how these work, so that we can make it beneficial to our existence . Midjourney or Leonardo are created by brilliant people to be used for equally brilliant purposes. Not for nonsensical purposes or for false statements to get likes.

There is no better tool than AI to quickly put together a storyline, perhaps, or a mock up or a plan . It simply is invaluable aid for a creative talented person - a professional or a student . ( Actually the best - the very best - is the trained hand of the artist - but that’s a whole different conversation.)

AI cannot be a substitute for the real thing it was not intended to be. So - here I am scrolling Facebook from my art page and I’m looking at these horrible posts . This is only a part of it – “I made this with my own hands.”… and a picture of something hideous nonrealistic and kind of ugly.

For the first time I thought I would repost them here - expose such fake posts - so all of you don’t fall for these and learn how to distinguish between real art and fake images. Like these usually in real art the artist name is important, as is the place where there is an exhibit these things will never go away.

There is no beauty in cheating and there is no beauty in a lying… As a matter of fact, where there is a lie, there is misery…

These fake images and fake posts make a mockery of real art - of real artists - of real sculptors, real digital creators - people who actually create things with their own talent, heart and mind, and their own imagination - and yes -with their own skilled hands and skilled digital knowledge.

I am yet to figure out why Facebook has not cracked on these yet . But here it is I’m posting it for you to take a look. All of us have to learn how to use ChatGPT and learn how to use AI. These are invaluable tools.

But know the limitations and know that these are generic images and you can absolutely not claim it to be your artwork even on Facebook, especially on Facebook. You can only claim that they have AI generated images. That’s where it stops.
