Please meet 2024-2025 board member candidate Tara Austin.
Tara Austin is the Owner/Creative Director, Sync of Austintatious Tunes, specializing in sync clearance, licensing, and catalog administration. For the past decade, her company has represented the catalogs of The Music Goes Round, B.V. and Nanada Music, B.V. (The Netherlands) and SueCo Music (Canada), negotiating deals for hit evergreen titles such as “Venus,” “Hocus Pocus,” “I Swear,” “Do It (’Til You’re Satisfied)” and most recently the iconic “Ain’t That a Kick In The Head.” She also consults for Flood, Bumstead, McCready & McCarthy, Inc. handing publishing administration and advising on licensing deals for country artists such as Gary Allan, Eli Young Band and Terri Clark.
Tara started her career at Warner/Chappell Music, rising from the front desk to Executive Assistant to the VP/General Manager for the Nashville division. During her 15 year tenure, she lent her creativity by coordinating high-profile events and workshops for the company while also contributing her vocals to demo sessions and live shows .
Transitioning to Equity Music Group as A&R Manager, Tara honed her skills in artist development and publisher relations, working closely with country artists like Clint Black, Mark Wills and Little Big Town. Her expertise expanded into music licensing for TV/Film projects and consumer products at Third Tier Music, LLC, where she negotiated licenses for a diverse range of genres for major media outlets. During this time, she also helped found and was Treasurer for Women Rock For The Cure, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, bridging the entertainment industry with Susan G. Komen’s Nashville division to raise money and awareness.
In 2010, Tara relocated to Los Angeles, establishing Austintatious Tunes and broadening her industry network. She has negotiated hundreds of deals working with major networks including Apple+ (Ted Lasso, Sugar), Max (The Flight Attendant, Finding Magic Mike), Hulu (The Greatest Hits, Handmaid’s Tale, Pam & Tommy), Netflix (The Queen’s Gambit, Gentefied, Human Resources), and also trailers (Onward, Trolls, Spy), video games (Fortnite & GTA franchises), and brands like Gain, AT&T, Applebee’s, Calvin Klein, and many others.
She is a current member of The CCC, AIMP and the Guild of Music Supervisors (FOG). She continues to sing, lending her voice on a regular basis for various projects, including the Wild Honey Orchestra’s fundraising efforts.
